Proposing to Veronica
So, Archie Comics got everyone all worked up over the summer promising to marry off two of the industry’s most famous characters: Archie and Veronica. Now, this shocked a lot of us because:
It turns out that all of these reasons were moot because it appears that this 6-part series isn’t lasting continuity but instead is a “what if” trip into possible future for our favorite ginger.
He didn’t really choose Veronica, and no one is really getting married, so nothing is really changing after all. However, we are seeing that, apparently, regardless of whom he chooses to marry, Archie is going to help produce twins who look exactly like younger versions of their parents.
I don’t mean to bash on this series because if I said I wasn’t super excited about every issue, it would be a Liar Liar Pants on Fire Situation. I am eating this shit up. Even when I was pissed that he chose Veronica because there’s not much there besides money and I guess for some reason I thought eventually Archie would wise up and realize that Veronica is kind of a jerk and Betty is smart, funny, and could totally fix his car. Which is awesome.
Anyway, the best part of this series is the Archie Comics Website because they have character blogs where Archie & Company talk about what’s going on in their lives and comment on each other’s posts. You, the reader, can also comment. Go to one of these blogs–any of them–and check out what happened when the news first hit that Archie would propose to Veronica. It was SHOCKING.

flesh FLESH flesh!
In non-Archie news, you might have heard of a little series called Blackest Night. Yeah, it’s pretty much the awesomest thing happening in comics right now if you ask me, which you didn’t, but you’re reading this so I’m kind of not worried about it.
With several issues out including crossover titles, this series is showing us once again that Geoff Johns is a master of all that is good and awesome about comics. There’s a whole lot still to come, but I have yet to be dissatisfied with any of the issues that have come out.
Are you guys super excited about it?
We are slowly getting in the different colored rings for the different corps and they’ll be $1.00 each. I find that wearing my rings makes me feel like a great big nerd but also like a pretty awesome person, so I’m willing to deal with the nerd part.
So that’s my mid-series update about some stuff I’ve been reading. What about you guys?

Ohmygosh, you guys. Oracle #3 came out today.
If you’ve been following this series, then you’ve seen a lot of things:
What do you think of the ending of this series, though, and of the upcomming event it apparently promises in a new title? I’m personally torn about it and a little confused.
Get back to us, STAT!

In Uncanny X-Men #508, Madelyne Pryor and her lady cohorts seem to have put Betsy back into her original body, which is pretty weird, right? I mean, it was weird when The Hand and Spiral pulled the original switcheroo with Kwannon and Bets, but digging up a corpse and putting the “essence” of said corpse’s original owner back into it after it had been removed…
…
Yeah, it’s weird.
Anyway, what do you guys think is up with this? I feel like Psylocke has been through a lot in the last twenty years.

There is a contest being held around the nation to determine which city will host the world premiere of X-Men Origins: Wolverine! This premiere will be attended by Hugh Jackman and other stars from the film, so it would be pretty awesome if they came to The Cleve, right? Here’s what to do:
Log on to http://www.x-menorigins.com/premiere and mark Cleveland with an “X” logo. The city with the most “X” votes wins the premiere, so get your vote on!!!
Voting closes on Friday, April 17th, which is like two days from now, so go nuts.
The winner will be announced April 20th and the premiere is scheduled for April 27th.
Tell your friends!

We’ve had a few people express concern on behalf of Grant Morrison. There is a feeling among some of the customers in the store and at this blog that the old boy isn’t getting a fair shake on the blog, and many of the people with these concerns are worried about backlash if they post here. We obviously want everyone to feel as open as possible while posting their opinions, so this thread is specifically for pointing out good things about Grant Morrison and his work. If you have something nice to say, then pelase say it!
If you can’t think of anything nice, please refrain from posting in this thread. Thanks, guys!

FCBD Prelude
So, Blackest Night is fast approaching, and I’m getting waaaay excited about it. With the Free Comic Book Day prelude coming out in just a month*, it’s definitely time to start talking seriously about WTF is going to be going on with the ladies and gentlemen of all the different color corps.
Currently, we have fairly reliable intel about Greens, Yellows, Blues, and Reds, and we’re about to get info on Orange. The Violets are out doing their craziness, and we’re still waiting for a good peek at Indigo and Black.
There are obviously gonna have to be some team ups between Corps, or at least some cooperation, right? Who is going to pair up? Why?

The reveal of the colors from Sinestro Corps War.
There’s also the issue of the Black Lanterns. Some have been spoiled already: we know Martian Manhunter is going to come back as a Black Lantern, and Cyborg Supes is also on board. Who else are you expecting? Is Barbara Gordon going to bite it at the end of The Cure and become part of the Black Corps? Does anyone care about all this Origins and Omens stuff?
I know I didn’t cover near all of the possible questions, here, so what do you think? Are you as jacked up about this event as I am?
* The FCBD prelude issue is a recap of events from The Sinestro Corps War and Rage of the Red Lanterns. It is meant to remind us of the events that set Blackest Night in motion (as if we could forget!) and will be available on Free Comic Book Day – May 2. Don’t miss it!

This movie was kind of a big deal for everyone in the comic world, right? What did you think? Did you like it or hate it? Did you only feel so so?
What would you have done differently if you made it, or did you think everything was awesome?
Discuss!
