New Comic Releases for Sept 9, 2015

Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, September 9th, 2015.

STAR WARS

After last week’s huge Star Wars toy drop on ForceFriday, everyone’s got the new movie on their minds. This week Marvel’s offering up a new title set directly after Return of the Jedi!

starwarsStar Wars Shattered Empire will be a four issue mini series written by Greg Rucka detailing the power struggle in the Empire after the emperor’s death, as well as the rebels response to it.  Darth Vader #9 is also due out this week.

DC COMICS

Scott Snyder will be teaming up with his occasional partner JOCK to bring you a stand alone issue of Batman.

batmanBatman #44 is a flashback story telling the origin of new villain Mr. Bloom. (So yes, we get Bruce Wayne back for an issue.) JOCK worked with Snyder on Batman Black Mirror, and currently works with him on Wytches. (If you’ve never read Black Mirror, you’re missing a modern classic. Pick up the graphic novel.)

Summer’s not quite over yet, so take a road trip with the Gotham Girls!

harleyHarley, Ivy and Catwoman reunite and hit the road in this one shot special. Written by regulars Conner and Palmiotti and drawn by Brett Blevins. (remember Sleepwalker?)

SECRET WARS

Sure we headlined a few DC titles this week, but it always comes back to Secret Wars.

capamericaMany series are coming to a close this week. Highlights for me include Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows #5, Civil War #4 (pictured), Giant Size Marvel AVX #4, Planet Hulk #5 and Siege #3.

Other titles this week include A-Force #4, 1602 Witch Hunter Angela #3, Korvac Saga #4, Ms. Deadpool and the Howling Commando’s #4, Red Skull #3, and Secret Wars 2099 #5.

INDEPENDENTS

We’ve hit the trifecta for hot indie graphic novels this week.

descendDescender: One young robot’s struggle to stay alive in a universe where all androids have been outlawed and bounty hunters lurk on every planet. A rip-roaring and heart-felt cosmic odyssey that pits humanity against machine, and world against world, to create a sprawling space opera from the creators of Trillium, Sweet Tooth, and Little Gotham.

chrononautFrom stars Mark Millar (Kick Ass, Wanted, The Secret Service) and Sean Murphy (Punk Rock Jesus, The Wake) comes their hit time travelling buddy story. Corbin Quinn and Danny Reilly are time travelers whose plans go off-course, leading to wild adventures in the time-stream.

Both Descender and Chrononauts and priced at only $9.99 each!

Finally, Brian K. Vaughan’s space epic Saga volume five ship this week.

sagaThe best way to sell Saga is to let you know that it’s our second best selling independent title, right behind Walking Dead. (There’s a new issue of that this week as well!)

That’s it for this week!
