Batman #100 & Spider-Man #49

We’ve done the math and this is the biggest new comic day this year. (It’s kind of nice to be able to say and maybe a sign that things are improving a little.)

The big two both have some pretty big releases, as well as some from stuff from the indie’s as well.

Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, October 7th, 2020!

DC BOOKS

Batman #100 is here and with it the end of the Joker War!

The final showdown between Batman and the Joker, and we even get a few back up stories that show us where the series is headed. Bruce also meets Clownhunter for the first time and they talk about what he’s been up too. (Between this and Three Jokers Batman seems pretty comfortable letting killers walk around, which is a new spin on the character.)

MARVEL BOOKS

Spider-Man #49 is a giant $9.99 issue featuring the return of the Green Goblin!

Lots or creators on this one with a main story by series regular Nick Spencer. Lots of covers too so come in early on Wednesday pick out your favorite.

Under Donny Cates’ writing Thor now outsells Amazing Spider-Man in our shop, which has never happened before. Grab a copy and find out why!

We’ve had lots of requests for Alex Ross Timeless covers, so we upped our orders over the last few weeks. They go fast, are cover price and look like this if your can find them:

This is the cover to Black Widow #2, we’ve also got one for the aforementioned Thor #8, Wolverine #6, X-Force #13, and Marauders #13. (though I believe the Wolverine’s are all spoken for and it’s out of print already.)

Which reminds us, ADD STUFF YOU WANT TO YOUR FILE! We’ve been hit with quite a few requests for X of Swords chapters and not alot will be hitting the table. We used to be able to get reorders for new comics in time for Wednesdays but with the pandemic stuff just kind of shows up whenever. #thanksdiamond #thankspandemic

“SMALL PRESS” COMICS

All four volumes of Mark Millar’s comic book series will be rereleased this week to coincide with the new Netflix show coming out in 2021 (?).

“In the 1930s the first generation of Superheroes rose to prominence after receiving powers. Fast forward to the present day, the original heroes are revered as the elder guard. Meanwhile, the children of the fabled heroes are struggling to live up to their parent’s legacy and legendary feats.”

Marty and Doc meet the Transformers in the new Transformers Back to the Future mini series.

Yes, this will be a guilty pleasure for me. There’s even a new Autobot called Gigawatt. (not Jigawatt, that’s not a real thing.)

…AND THE REST (seriously awesome stuff)

The Black Widow True Believer Reprints begin this week and continue throughout the month of October. There are ten different $1.00 Black Widow reprints to show her history in the Marvel Universe. Some great stuff in there, and this week you get her first appearance, the first appearance of Red Guardian, and the first time she met Daredevil.

Guess what? We’re going to use these books for our trick or treaters on October 31st! The movie might be delayed until May 7th but you can learn all about her before that.

We also got in a reorder of original graphic novels from TKO studios, specifically Sentient, which we can’t seem to keep in stock.

“From Eisner Award-winners Jeff Lemire (Black Hammer) and Gabriel Walta (The Vision). When an attack kills the adults on a colony ship, the on-board A.I. VALARIE must help the ship’s children survive the perils of space. Can Valarie rise to the task?”

Sentient itself was even nominated for an Eisner Award. TKO graphic novels come directy from TKO, you can’t get them through Diamond. There’s eight different books right now and we’ll even give you a FREE TKO sketchbook with your purchase of one!

If you’re out and about this week be sure to pick up a copy of Cleveland Magazine’s “Best of” Issue, we got a five page featured article in there!
