It’s only two more weeks until out 8th Annual Halloween ComicFest!
Halloween ComicFest is like a little Free Comic Book Day, with FREE comic created just for the day by all the major publishers!
The event runs from 10 am to 7 pm, and we have a photographer on hand to take pictures between 10 am and 3 pm.
We also have candy! (We’re a big believer in healthy snacks but not so much on Halloween)
There are 28 books to choose from and we allow people in costume to take one of each if they like!
(People not in costume are also welcome to stop by and pick out five comics.)
Of these 28 books, 15 are rated ALL-AGES, 12 are rated TEEN, and only one is rated MATURE. (Which we keep up and away from the rest)
Full-size comic books include:
DCeased #1: A DC Universe Zombie story!
Miles Morales Spider-Man #0: The first appearance of Miles Morales as Spider-Man!
Star Wars Boba Fett #1: A stand-alone story and a great tie-in to Disney+’s The Mandalorian series premiering on November 12th!
Sonic The Hedgehog #1: A special edition reprint of the first issue on the series!

We have LOTS of comics to give away, but just as with Free Comic Book Day, COME EARLY FOR THE BEST SELECTION!
Another HUGE part of the day is our FREE photography services from 10 am to 3 pm in the foyer next to the shop. Laura Wimbels from the FacesOfCLE project will be around to perfectly capture your costume in front of our backdrop. Get a cool photo of your cosplay costume, your kid’s super cute costume, or group photos with family and friends! (We post these on Facebook after the event, so you’ll have them in time for your social media posts for Halloween!)
We will also have our Pop Fun Box outside for photo ops, as well as our T-Rex Skeleton. (Really, the whole store becomes a skeleton petting zoo thanks to Mrs. Dudas.
A lot of the fun comes from people in the shop taking pictures with each other as they see the common ground in their costumes. It’s a fun day all around for us. I have about as many costumes changes as Brittney Spears.

We’ll be setting up a skeleton petting zoo outside the shop so you can touch and take your own pictures!
DC has also picked select graphic novels that they feel best represent the players involved in the movie. We’ve stocked up on the below graphic novels to make sure they’re around on the day.
We’ve also completely restocked our Justice League back issues, which are always 25% off. This led to the creation of four boxes of Justice League comics that are in order and will be only 50 cents each.
Local Comic Shop Day is an offshoot from Record Store Day, featuring exclusive material that is only available in brick and mortar comic shops. Put together by an organization we’re very active in, ComicsPro, LCSD is intended to draw some focus to independently owned comic shops before the holiday shopping season begins. (To let you know we’re out there.) We’re pretty much always drawing attention to ourselves so we participate by offering some of those exclusive products. (I myself have waited in line to get that certain special thing on Record Store Day, so I get the routine.) Each product is branded with the LCSD logo, to let you know that you’ve made a smart purchase and shopped local. As far as I can tell, we’re the only West Side comic shop you can get this stuff at. (With Imaginary Worlds being the East Side shop.)
On Friday November 24th from 7pm to midnight we’ll be having our annual Black Friday Sale.
