Andrea’s Super Picks for 04.15.2026
Hey Comic Shop Friends! It isn’t a big week for new comics, but we have plenty going on to get you into the shop!
This Wednesday, the 15th at 8pm, I’ll be co-hosting Guilty Pleasurable trivia with Rachel at Never Say Dive in Old Brooklyn! I planned three of the rounds, and I’ll have prizes from Carol & John’s to give out. It’s free to play, there’s prizes every round, and the total points winner gets a Never Say Dive gift card. We’ll also have a box of free comics for everyone there! Rachel hosts trivia there once a month, and I always have a great time going, so come out and see what it’s about!
Here’s a pic from May 2024 when the shop team won!
This Thursday is Late Nite Comics! 8pm to 11pm on the 16th! This one will have boxes of new dollar stock! There will be at least twenty new long boxes of dollar books to dig through, so there won’t be any extra discounts on those, just $1 each! Plus, the return of the $75 mystery long boxes! We’ll have 50% off back issues too! Come check out what’s new!
Then, Saturday is Superman Day! Or Supergirl Day, since she’s taking over! To celebrate the first appearance of Supergirl, and kick off the Summer of Supergirl in anticipation of the new movie, there is a facsimile of Action Comics #252! There are other facsimiles and exclusives on sale for the day, but we’ll also be giving out some free Superman/Supergirl books!
There’s an all-ages Supergirl: Zoo-per Heroes, the recent Supergirl #1, issue #1 of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Supergirl: the World, issue #1 of the most recent Superman series, and a single issue to promote the DC Finest collection, Superman: Time and Time Again!
Get all six free with a purchase! We’ll have 50% off Superman back issues all day, so that means any back issue with Superman on it is half off! Superman graphic novels will be on sale at 20% off as well!
The city of Cleveland has also recognized April 18th as Superman Day!
There are a handful of tickets left for the Dave Michelinie signing on Thursday April 30th! Tickets are $50, you get five free signatures and a seat for the Q&A John is hosting. Doors are at 6pm, Q&A starts at 6:30pm, and is followed by the signing. If you’d like more than five signatures, they are $10 each and all of that gets donated to Michelinie’s local cat charity, Purring Pals!
Saturday May 2nd is Free Comic Book Day! The best day of the year! We’re celebrating our 25th FCBD!
Dave Michelinie will be here signing from 10am to 6pm! You’ll get one free signature, then if you’d like more, they are $10 each, and that is donated to Purring Pals, Michelinie’s local cat charity! www.purringpals.org
We’ll have 45 free comic book titles to give away, and you can choose twelve! Check out the selections here: https://www.freecomicbookday.com/comics and here: https://prhcomics.com/2025/12/16/comicsgiveawayday2026/
Yes, it’s a little weird with different companies and names for the day, but you don’t have to worry about any of that! Just show up and get some cool comics! We will have the titles separated by All Ages, Teen, and Adult, so you can choose accordingly.
There will be twenty local artists and vendors in the FCBD room, so take a couple laps around and support them!
Outside the shop, the Rust Belt Monster Collective will be live painting a mural, with a Spider-Man, Venom, and Carnage theme!
We’ll also have 50% off all back issues in the shop all day!
Sam, @sonnyboycomics, will be here to film and vlog the event, so say hi to him and follow his YouTube and Instagram!
There will be cosplayers and photo ops, a kids’ playroom in the foyer connected to the shop, and other fun stuff!
We love Free Comic Book Day! It’s the perfect day to bring someone new to the shop to get them into the hobby, and it’s a wonderful family-friendly event, so bring the kids!
MARVEL COMICS
Boy, it would have been nice if Marvel had spread out that week that had seven number-one issues a little. There are no new titles from Marvel this week, but we do get Alias: Red Band #2 and Venom #257!
Jessica Jones has partnered with Typhoid Mary to investigate the grisly murders in Hell’s Kitchen, but an interrogation of one of the suspected murderers leads them to a hidden third culprit! Can they set aside their differences before they become the next victims?
Death Spiral part eight! Torment is spiraling closer and closer to Spider-Man and Venom, and Anna Watson and May Parker are next! Can Peter and MJ get there in time? The only hope of stopping him may be Flash Thompson! Carnage is testing his bond with Torment, as he decides to do things his way, and it’s not going to end well for anyone… Written by Charles Soule, with art by Javier Pina.
DC COMICS
This week DC has the second issues of Lobo, Batwoman, and Deathstroke: the Terminator, and we’ve restocked #1s for all three! All of them were great, so pick them up!
Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta’s Absolute Batman starts a new story arc! Absolute Scarecrow! The introduction of the Absolute Robins! It’s horror, it’s tragedy, it’s amazing. You know every issue is going to be good, but this one pushes the entire Absolute Batman universe in a new direction. Scarecrow is genuinely creepy, there are bloody deaths (one that hits super hard!), more wonderful Bat-toys, Slade Wilson, and the return of Waylon! Nineteen issues in, and they’re still killing it.
The Wonder War continues in Tom King and Daniel Sampere’s Wonder Woman! The Matriarch is more powerful than ever. She’s spreading lies and a rewritten history to the public, but Trinity and Wonder Woman know the truth. After the disastrous attempt to stop her, the mother and daughter duo must find another way, and that means bringing the battle to Paradise Island. They are searching for someone, but is it enemy or ally?
SMALL PRESS COMICS
The end of the world is here, but billionaire Tuttle Barrows is prepared. He’s spent a decade building a massive sealed habitat above an ancient freshwater glacial cave. But no amount of planning could prepare for the horrors about to be unleashed. Barrows built this place to be a sanctuary for his family and a select staff, but that sanctuary is short lived, as something deep underground is seeping in, causing hallucinations and violence. Will they find a way to survive, or will this last refuge become their tomb? Written by Joshua Dysart, with artists David Lapham, Bill Sienkiewicz, and Jacob Phillips.
Set in the world of Lost Fantasy, writers Curt Pires and Franklin Jonas, and artist Patrick Mulholland, kick off a high-octane fantasy and superhero story with a giant size first issue! Aaron Hillburg is a private school kid, who spends his time doing parkour, hating his rich a-hole dad, and watching the Bachelor with his mom. One night on his way home, he slams into a man on the run. This man carries a dragon egg that multiple parties want to acquire. When Aaron touches the egg, it ignites a hidden lineage of ancient magic within him, and the dragon bonds with him. Now those wizards, cultists, and warlords are after him and the dragon. Keeping himself alive may be easy with his new powers, but keeping this hidden from his parents won’t be. Especially when a fight brings this fantasy world into his father’s business, and draws the law enforcement’s eye right on Aaron.
