Sikoryak!

Look for the Hellboy: The First 20 Years hardcover collection, on sale in comic shops everywhere on March 19! This deluxe oversized hardcover presents Mignola’s favorite covers and illustrations in gallery style, from his first drawing of Hellboy through twenty years of publishing.

Here’s a USA today article about MIgnola reflecting of 20 years of Hellboy:Mignola looks back at 20 years of ‘Hellboy’

Well, in a nutshell, we have a lot of copies of the free comic book to give away. The new lead story by Mignola and Fabio Moon is really great and should make old fans happy as well as expose new readers to Hellboy’s irreverent and dry humor and style. I’m a big Fabio Moon fan anyway after his work in Daytrippers.

There’s also four pages of Sunday funnies done up in Hellboy style, and the “The Ghoul” storyline really shows how much research goes into some of the stories. MIgnola’s artwork has a very eye pleasing aesthetic to it, and the more you learn about him the more you see the golden ratio pop up all over his work. There’s a mathematical quality to it that’s on display in the afforementioned Hell Boy Hardcover. Really reasonably priced at $19.99.

Hellboy, especially in the movies, reminds me of the Thing and reading Marvel Two In One’s when I was a kid. I think Hellboy draws a lot of inspiration from that stuff.
