Happy February Comic Shop Friends! Or should I say Happy Hallow-tines Day? Because we are rich with new horror-themed books this week!

But first, we are still working through new collections, so check the wall and new back issue boxes on the counter. John’s last wall re-rack sold fast! Ben restocked that wall three times that day!

Also, John did a huge Manga restock. You may have seen the pictures on Facebook of stacks and stacks of new stuff, but here’s a closer look at some of it:

Huge Junji Ito restock! This is the only manga I’ve read because it’s weird horror stuff.

And more!

MARVEL COMICS

This one is giving me classic Buffy vibes, but with Blade! The Daywalker has a daughter, Brielle Brooks, and she’s just starting to develop her part-vampire powers while also dealing with teachers, friends, and the new kid who just transferred from New Orleans. Written by Danny Lore with art by Karen S. Darboe.

Writer John Jennings and artist Valentine De Landro’s Silver Surfer: Ghost Light introduces a new Marvel superhero saga. After moving into their uncle Al’s old house in the small town of Sweetwater, Toni Brooks and her brother, Josh, uncover the mystery of the Shining Man; and maybe the answer to Al’s disappearance.

DC COMICS

It’s a small DC week, so there are just a couple of one-shots to feature.

""

Highlighting the power of Black excellence in the DC Universe, DC Power: A Celebration features Amazing-Man, Black Lightning, Thunder and Lightning, Queen Nubia and Bumblebee, Green Lantern, Aquaman and Kid Flash, Cyborg, Vixen and Batwing, Batman, and a preview of Far Sector! There are nine stories written by Evan Narcisse, Lamont Magee, Stephanie Williams, Brandon Thomas, Dorado Quick and Jordan Clark, Morgan Hampton, Chuck Brown, John Ridley, and N.K. Jemisin; with art by Darryl Banks, Chriscross, Alitha Martinez, Natacha Bustos, Clayton Henry, Valentine De Landro, Petterson Oliveira, Olivier Coipel, Jamal Campbell.

""

Written by Andy Diggle with art by Karl Mostert, Batman: Legends of Gotham puts Red Hood in a team-up with Black Lightning and Katana to stop the auction of Batman’s data cache of secrets. Jason Todd can’t let it end up in Bane’s hands, nor anyone else’s.

SMALL PRESS

This five-issue mini-series from Edward Laroche kicks off with an ad-free double-length first issue for $3.99! The year 2098. A girl has been abducted, and a killer has been hired to find her and bring her home in the wasteland of a fractured, decentralized, and depleted Third World America.

""

Another Image #1! Writer Peter J. Tomasi and artist Maxim Simic confront the question of nature versus nurture and who pays for the sins of the past in this crime thriller. It’s up to two NYPD detectives to figure out why “angels” are falling from the sky, and who is behind the strange murders.

Okay, they got me with Baphomutt. Welcome to the gated community of Wilmhurst, where all your needs are catered to. If you’re a slasher killer. When Puzzle Man breaks the rules and brings victims inside the gates, things take a turn when one escapes. Now a special agent who has a past with ties to multiple killers is on the case. From Kyle Starks and Piotr Kowalski, this one is totally for the horror movie fans like me.

Before rock and roll legend Jack King died, he recorded one last song. One song just for him, not the label, not the producers. Now his wife Cindy is tasked with protecting his legacy while grieving, unaware that dark forces are surrounding her. And they want the master tapes to Jack’s unreleased final album, which may be a doorway to Hell.
