WINSTON WORLD

Welcome to Winston World 2016! To celebrate the historic occasion of a national comic book convention coming to Cleveland, we’ve decided to have a weekend sale in case you can’t find what you’re looking for at the con. This year we will also be setting up a booth at the show as well, selling off two pallets of Marvel Graphic Novels that we bought for just $5 each. (we wanted to make the whole thing as easy as possible for us in case we wound up accidentally inebriated.)

Meanwhile, back at the shop, Winston will be holding down the fort during his events Sophomore year. Our shop cat Winston is a celebrity on par with Chris Hemsworth, and charges only about half as much for a photo.

WinstonDon’t believe us?! Check this out. Apparently Winston is ‘trending’ on the internet.

Still don’t believe us? Winston disappeared for 24 hours this past July, and essentially broke Facebook with the new of his disappearance and reemergence. The Cleveland Plain Dealer even sent a reporter.

It all has to be true because it’s on the internet. That’s how things work. (seriously, want to hear some insane facts about that incident? The total reach was 141,521 people, with 13,669 people physically engaged in the posts, by liking, commenting or sharing.)

Winston is proof of the American Dream, that one can literally sit there and do nothing and good things can still happen to you.

So, at the shop this weekend, from Friday until Sunday, you can get:

  • 50% off all back issues.
  • 10% off everything else in the shop.

A chance to win one of six $100 Marvel Omnibuses (entry free with a purchase, winners drawn Sunday night)

While you’re there, take a picture of or with Winston and post it to your Instagram or Facebook social media sites with #WinstonWorld #cnjcomics for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate! (please engage Winston in a manner fitting his mood. Celebrities are finicky after all, and you never know what you’re going to get with that darn cat. A picture of him being lazy is just as good as one with you in our book.)

Submit those pictures by midnight Sunday. You can even post them directly to our Facebook page if you want. Funny captions make funny pictures funnier.

CLEVELAND NEWCOMERS AND RETURN GUESTS

If you are visiting the shop from out of town, we’ll also be handing out FREE maps of Superman’s interesting history right here in Cleveland. They’re pretty snazzy and you can only get them at the shop. Make the most of your time in our amazing town!

CON TALENT

Lastly, here’s a link to the talent pool down at the con this year.

Pay no mind to the headliners, as some of Cleveland’s own’s are setting up to show everyone what they’ve got. These are people we work with year round, so please make an effort to stop by their tables and give them a little love, even if it’s just a wave and a ‘good to see you’.

Artists: Chris Ehnot, Ryan Finley, John Greiner, Clare Kolat, Jeffrey Ritchie, Erin Schectman, Tim Switalski, Thom Zahler and Martin Egeland.

Writers: Tony Isabella and Sumerak.

We also donated some graphic novels to Superheroes To Kids in Ohio, who will also have a booth down there. Their mission statement is “We make costumed visits to children’s hospitals, special needs centers, and charitable events whenever we are needed throughout Northeast Ohio.” So stop by their booth and buy some raffle tickets, it goes to a really good cause.

Let’s enjoy our weekend in any way that we can Cleveland!

Back to the world of comic book conventions for me I guess.
