Happy Superman weekend Comic Shop Friends!

The shop has been featured on multiple local news outlets, TV and print, and here are a few links to check out:

First, Cleveland.com has a write-up about John’s massive Action Comics backdrop!

Third, here are some events happening around the city this weekend!

6 Cleveland events to celebrate Superman’s return to the big screen

“The foyer attached to the shop will be open from Wednesday July 9th to Wednesday July 16th so you can take your own pictures in there. Bring a friend or you can use a tripod we have set up. There’s a smaller car for kids but parents please keep an eye on those kiddos and make sure they’re being gentle with everything. We’ll have free Superman comics to give away too, so you can make a fun outing out of it. Again, all we ask is that you give us a shout out if you post your pictures to socials. Oh yeah, enjoy the movie everyone, and here’s to you Cleveland, you’re the best!”

Here are the free Superman comics we’ll have to give out starting Wednesday the 9th!

Our friends at Comics at the Corner are hosting a Lit Lounge on July 12th from 1pm to 3pm, and we’ll be providing them with free comics! They’re a great nonprofit that supports literacy for every age in Cleveland, so show them some support!

We won’t be having Late Nite Comics in July, because it’s time for our annual Not At ComicCon Sale! One of the biggest sales of the year!

From Thursday, July 24th through Sunday, the 27th, we’ll have the foyer open and full of dollar stock, and they’ll be 50 cents each for 100 or more. Back issues will be 50% off, and it’s one of the rare times that everything else in the shop (that’s not already discounted) will be 10% off!

MARVEL COMICS

Let’s not forget about the new Fantastic Four movie coming out this month too! With Babygirl Pedro Pascal, and everyone’s favorite cousin, Ebon Moss-Bachrach!

Continuing on from writer Ryan North’s just-finished Fantastic Four series, which we are all fans of, and you should definitely read, it’s the new Fantastic Four series from writer Ryan North and artist Humberto Ramos! Marvel’s First Family are taking on Emperor Doom, but Doom has had enough of their refusal to let him rule. The only way for them to learn their lesson: send them each to a different era, alone! Fighting to survive in wildly different time periods, Sue, Reed, Ben, and Johnny all know their only hope is to reach the Forever Stone. One of the longest lasting rocks on the planet that has stayed intact and accessible through Earth’s history, it’s been part of the Fantastic Four’s long-term plan if they ever found themselves separated. Can they all survive long enough to make it to the Forever Stone? Can they figure out how to reunite without the usual technology? Can the Thing fight off multiple dinosaurs at once? Probably!

Authorized by the Future Foundation, it’s Matt Fraction and Mark Buckingham’s comic book adaptation of the Fantastic Four’s first foray into heroism! “This celebration of the start of these four fantastic years will bring you closer to the action, deeper inside their emotions, and right to the edge of your seat with excitement!” Based off the “real-life” events and “interviews” with Reed, Sue, Ben, and Johnny, this one-shot is the perfect primer for the new film, and is presented as a period accurate magazine, with excerpts from the School of Science Newsletter, Teen Living, and ads for the new FantastiCar and the Flaming Hearts Fan Club!

It’s Jeff! And all of Marvel’s best friends! Jeff and his cat buddies go on an epic cosmic quest after they end up with the Space Stone and are transported to Knowhere! Collecting the Marvel Infinity comic in print, this book has every adorable Marvel pet! Jeff, Lucky, Alligator Loki, Throg, Chewie, Liho, Alpine, Coal, Cosmo, Dr. Shapiro, Tippy-Toe, Lockjaw, Lockheed, Bats, Figaro, Oliver, Lucifer, Lupin, Raffles, Irene, and Simon! With the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Grandmaster, Beta Ray Bill, Howard the Duck, and more! Written by Jason Loo, with art by Nao Fuji.

DC COMICS

DC’s Elseworlds continued the Batman of the Victorian era with Gotham by Gaslight: The Kryptonian Age, and now that Age continues with A League For Justice! Starting right where last year’s series ended, writer Andy Diggle and artist Leandro Fernandez begin the formation of a new Justice League in a steam-powered adventure. As Adam Strange’s confession gets readers up to speed with the first series, in Smallville, our five heroes have to stop Harley and her goons from stealing the “doohickey” Lex Luthor desires. If they can stop themselves from fighting each other first. They may not truly trust each other, but working together is the only way they’ll keep Luthor from obtaining the mysterious object. Starting in the Midwest plains, unraveling the truth of the alien artifacts from the Kryptonian Age will take the League For Justice across the world and in the path of other super powered beings!

“Krypton is the gift that keeps on killing.” Fatally wounded in the last issue by bullets forged from slivers of his home planet, Superman fights to survive. With the Omega Men using the Father Box to save him, he sees a burning world. Is it Krypton? Is it Earth? The Omega Men want to use Kal’s full power to end the Lazarus Corporation. If he does, will it mean the end of this world? Will his anger overtake him? What is this corrupted world causing him to become? Jason Aaron and Rafa Sandoval are really getting into it, and just keep building and building an amazing Superman story.

If you are looking for more light-hearted reads, may I suggest Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman #2? Even if you aren’t, I’m going to suggest it anyway! Teenage Trinity meets Jason Todd! “HAHACUTELITTLEPIXIESHOESHAHAHA!” And it’s super serious. But it’s funny. And romantic. He’s so confident, and so cool, how could Lizzie not get a little crush? But there are more pressing matters! Finding Robin-Corgi and getting back home! I love the interactions between the trinity of Trinity “sisters”, and Tom King and Belen Ortega are killing it on this book!

SMALL PRESS COMICS

You know we all loved Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees from Patrick Horvath, and it kept selling out, so do not miss this sequel series, Rite of Spring! Eight years after Samantha’s killing spree in Woodbrook, a victim’s sister is still searching for answers and closure. Getting a tip that she should check out the small town, Monica Brewer may get too close to the truth. And to the killer. There are no secrets in the age of the internet, and Samantha’s may be literally unearthed.  The cozy horror hit returns with a six-issue mini-series. Add it to your pull list, and don’t miss out!

Ready for the raunchiest Archie comic you’ll ever read? Things get wild for Archie Andrews when he takes a job at the Quick Stop! Keep this Kevin Smith penned one-shot away from your kids, because even though Archie artist Fernando Ruiz makes the Clerks characters look straight out of Riverdale, this book is filled with Snoochie Boochie shenanigans! Randal needs someone to fill the Dante-sized hole in his life, and Archie has applied for the job. There’s Betty and Veronica drama, a potential new love interest for Archie, a Josie and the Pussycats concert, and Jay and Silent Bob being their usual selves! And who knew that Riverdale weed would put Jay and Silent Bob’s to shame?!
