Andrea’s Goofy Picks for 07.30.2025
Happy fifth Wednesday, Comic Shop Friends! It’s a small week, which is nice after our busy weekend sale!
Before we get to the events coming up in August, I wanted to let you know that John will be taking over the newsletter for a month (after next week) because I’ll be out of the shop to recover from surgery. I do appreciate you all taking the time to read this every week, and thank you to the people who mentioned they enjoy the newsletter when they were in the shop this weekend!
First up! On Sunday, August 3rd, John will be set up at NEO Comic Con! This is probably the only show he’s doing this year, so stop out! 10 am to 4 pm! It’s at the North Olmsted Soccer Sportsplex on Lorain Road, and more details are on their site, HERE!
August’s Late Nite Comics is on Thursday the 21st! Tons of dollar books, 50% off back issues, and this time a Drawing Club event with Genghis Con!

Genghis Con is bringing their Drawing Club to our shop from 7 pm to 10 pm during our Late Nite Comics!
Bring some art supplies, draw for a bit, and then dig through some dollar stock!
All dollar stock sales at August’s Late Nite will be donated to Genghis Con, too! Support your local indie comic show and local art scene! We set up at Genghis Con every year to promote our Holiday Art Show and sign up artists, and it’s always a great time!

Loki enters into a deal with Mephisto and is tasked with killing a descendant of an agent of Khonshu. But the Lord of Lies commanding the God of Mischief is not something that will go smoothly… Discovering the young man he must kill is a storyteller and a musician, Loki asks him to compose a masterpiece, no matter the cost. Mephisto is not pleased with the delay, but no one tells Loki what to do. Having recently rewatched Amadeus, I get some Salieri and Mozart vibes in this one-shot. Goofy Parker loves entomology, his Aunt Tessie, Uncle Ben, and saying hello to all of his bees. His life is good, but with bills piling up, Goofy wants to do something to help out, and finding an unknown species of spider may be the ticket. With his new spider powers, Spider-Goofy enters a talent show to win $100,000, and he must learn that with great power comes great responsibility when he lets the Beagle Boys get away with the prize money. Since this is a Disney version, everything works out okay in the end, and it’s a fun twist on the Peter Parker story.
The last of the J. Michael Straczynski one-shots! This time it’s Spider-Man Versus Everyone! Taking Tony Stark’s invite to a fancy French Restaurant, Peter just wants a nice night out with Mary Jane. But how nice can it be when Doctor Octopus, Venom, and Kingpin show up? With a restaurant full of heroes and villains, it’ll be a miracle if service goes smoothly! Hey, stranger things have happened, and with Otto Octavius and Eddie Brock on their best behavior it just may happen.
