Andrea’s Holiday Picks for 12.17.2025

Happy Holiday Party week Comic Shop Friends! John has updates and more details for the Holiday Art Show and fundraiser, the sale, and the party, HERE!

I’ll do a brief reminder about what’s happening this week!

Hope your back issue wish lists are updated because the 50% off back issues starts now!

All back issues, including the wall, are 50% off Wednesday the 17th through Wednesday the 24th! That’s one full week of back issue bargains!

The Holiday Art Show is up too! From the 17th through the Holiday Party on Saturday the 20th, you can stop in to view all the submissions that we’ll be raffling off at 10:30pm during the party.

Raffle tickets can be purchased one for $1, or six for $5, and every single dollar raised goes directly to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank! They can turn $1 into three full meals, so each and every dollar donated makes an impact on hunger in our community.

You can buy tickets starting on the 17th until right before we start to draw tickets at 10:30pm at the party.

We have a lot of fun submissions this year! I have my eye on a couple that I’d like to win, so don’t put your tickets in for the Absolute Wonder Woman cover. Just kidding, do it. We want to raise as much money as possible for the Food Bank this year!

Here’s the two covers I did this year!

My mom did a cover too!

Saturday, the 20th from 8pm to 11pm is our annual Holiday Party! You can take 50% off any one item during the party! Get a statue for a friend! Get an omnibus for yourself!

We’ll have refreshments, and of course will be selling raffle tickets! Use the money you saved on back issues and that half off item to donate to the Cleveland Food Bank!

We also have a new holiday poster to give away with a purchase! Jameson reimagined the first Marvel/DC crossover in the spirit of our Art Show theme, Superheroes in Cleveland, putting Superman and Spider-Man atop the Terminal Tower. Supplies are limited, and we ask only one per customer, so we can have enough to make it to Christmas.

MARVEL COMICS

Marvel’s finishing out the year with some smaller weeks, which is good because we have so much going on, but is also bad because I don’t have much from them to put in the newsletter.

The killer Alien Vs. Captain America continues with issue #2, a few more Age of Revelation titles finish up, and Marvel Rivals Ignite is reprinted in color!

Following the Imperial event, T’challa has reclaimed his role as the Emperor of Wakanda! Now faced with the challenge of uniting his kingdom on Earth and in space, he cannot begin his task as someone, or something, has taken him to an unknown planet. Fighting for his life, T’challa must learn where he is, and figure out how to get a message back to Shuri. Searching for her brother, Shuri visits his last known location, that may have clues to how he disappeared. With the royal family away, the throne sits empty, giving the perfect opportunity for someone else to seize the title of Emperor of Wakanda. Written by Victor LaValle, with art by Stefano Nesi.

DC COMICS

How awesome has the DC K.O. event been so far?! All fight month continues with two more rounds this week!

Round four! Titans #30 is Cyborg vs. Swamp Thing! The might of man and machine versus the eternal power of the Earth itself! Writer John Layman and artist Pete Woods craft a perfect fight between technology and nature, while also showing the values of these two characters. There is an interlude tying this issue into the Titans K.O. story, but this issue is perfectly made to read on its own as a one-shot story. No more details because I don’t want to spoil any of the fights!

Round five! Harley Quinn Vs. Zatanna! Harley’s using her hard-hitting skills against Zatanna’s magic, and Harley knows if Zatanna can’t speak, she can’t spell. Will it be enough to win this round? Not if Zatanna has more tricks up her sleeve! Leah Williams and Mirka Andolfo give us another K.O. one-shot that’s a knockout! I’ll say no more, but make sure to pick it up!

Merry Christmas! We will be giving out 100 free copies of the Sensation Comics #38 facsimile to the first people through the door at the Holiday Party! We’ll have copies out on the table on Wednesday for sale if you don’t want to wait for one, or if you can’t make it to the party. Wonder Woman stands in for Santa to bring joy to a family for Christmas, but little does she know that this innocent holiday gesture will lead to her helping a gang of robbers steal a fortune!

Let’s not forget about a new issue of Wonder Woman this week! Tying up the end of the Mouse Man story and leading into the new Wonder War storyline! Wonder Woman knows!

SMALL PRESS COMICS

Y’all like wrestling? Y’all like heists? Then you’ll like Wrestle Heist! Kyle Starks writes and draws the tale of wrestler Sterling Steele as his final match with Buddy Hansen’s promotion takes a turn for the worse. A career ending injury costs him his spot at a new promotion and his freelance wrestling plans are over. Years later, Steele has a plan to get back at crooked promoter Buddy, by robbing him during the biggest wrestling event of the year! Picking a team of fellow wrestlers also screwed over by Buddy, it’s about to be a no holds barred, body slamming, backstabbing caper! Worth it for the fake magazine stories and ads in the back, but this is a great first issue setting up the skills and careers of Steele, Gravedigger, Bearwolf, and Fetu Savea, as they gear up for the heist!

As of Tuesday afternoon as I’m writing this, we have 20 copies hitting the table! Issue #8 of Mark Spears Monsters is all blind bags! There are over 75 variants that could be inside, including cardstock, chrome foil, black and white, glow in the dark, or a “Tinsel & Terror” cover! As the story arc concludes, there’s a shocking twist, a dramatic cliffhanger, and as the monsters unite, who will live and who will die? Rip into a blind bag to find out!
