Andrea’s Island of Picks for 03.10.2026

Hello there Comic Shop Friends! I hope you’re all out enjoying this wonderful warm weather while we have it! It’s perfect for reading comics on the porch!

But first some news!

John was on New Day Cleveland last week to talk comics! Check it out here!

Zoe shaved her head on the 6th to raise awareness of Blood Cancer United! We’re still taking cash donations in the shop through Saturday the 14th if you’d still like to donate! You can also donate online through the 14th here!

Thank you again to all of you who donated, and who shopped Late Nite Comics to add to the shop’s donation of 20% of sales that day. We appreciate you!

March’s Late Nite Comics will be from 8pm to 11pm on Thursday the 19th! You’ll still have hours to dig through the dollar comic boxes, but we all get to get home earlier, because some of us have bedtimes. (Mostly me and my sleepy self.)

We’ll have tons of dollar stock out, and 50% off back issues as usual! And if you get 100 or more dollar books, they’ll be 50 cents each! Come out and stock up!

We’re happy to announce the return of David Michelinie, this time for Free Comic Book Day 2026! David is the creator of Venom and Carnage, and has written prolific runs on Avengers, Iron Man and Amazing Spiderman. David will be signing in shop on Free Comic Book Day, May 2nd, from 10am to 6pm. One free signature per person, then it’s $10 each with proceeds going to Purring Pals, a cat charity in David’s home state of Delaware.

We’ll be hosting a ticketed VIP event on Thursday April 30th from 6pm to 9pm featuring a Q & A interview between John Dudas and David Michelinie. Tickets are $50 and we have 50 available. All funds from ticket sales will also go to Purring Pals! You’ll get five free signatures at the event, and you can pay $10 each for more. You’ll also be able to pick out your 12 free comic book day books early to avoid the line on the day! We always throw in extra surprises to make the event even more fun! Attending the event is a great way to support Free Comic Book Day!

MARVEL COMICS

Jessica Jones returns! Before she shows up again in the new season of Daredevil: Born Again, grab her first Red Band series! Writer Sam Humphries and artist Geraldo Borges throw Jessica into a sinister mystery to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Alias. Jessica resents having to give up her private investigator license and business after her husband, Luke Cage, became mayor. Her identity is reduced to “Mayor’s Wife”, and she can’t do anything or go anywhere without the press and paparazzi showing up. When a brief stop at the old office leads her to find her neighbors murdered, she’s pulled back into her old life. This is only one in a series of grisly murders in Hell’s Kitchen, and Jessica is going to have a hard time hiding her investigation from her husband, the cops, and the public eye. Especially after Typhoid Mary asks to form an alliance to track down the killer. This is not going to end well for Jessica Jones.

Coming out of Imperial’s cosmic event, it’s a new Guardians team! Made up of five unlikely members, Gamora, Captain Marvel, Amadeus Cho, Darkhawk, and Cosmic Ghost Rider, their mission is to protect the delicate balance of the new Galactic Union. By any means necessary. Put together by Maximus, by Peter Quills’ request, the team isn’t fully sure that they can trust him, especially after he had previously killed Gamora and Darkhawk. Their first mission is to stop a rogue Kree Grand Admiral, but when Captain Marvel has to make a hard decision to stop him, it leads to even more unrest in the team. Darkhawk is having disturbing nightmares that may show what’s to come for them, and Cosmic Ghost Rider and Maximus have their own secret reasons for the creation of the Imperial Guardians. Gamora has set rules for the team for a reason, and that reason is that none of them are sure who to trust. Written by Dan Abnett, with art by Marcelo Ferreira.

The first announced one-shot in a series that focuses on World Central Kitchen, to celebrate their life-changing and impactful work to provide food and nourishment to communities in crisis around the world. World Central Kitchen is a non-profit organization that steps in to provide food and water to communities around the world impacted by disasters, natural and man-made.

Real-world renowned chef José Andrés, founder of WCK, has a new restaurant, and Peter Parker is there to photograph the opening, but Electro is crashing the kitchen! He came prepared for Spider-Man, but he wasn’t counting on José joining in the fight, in “Great Seats, Great Responsibility” from Steve Orlando and Roi Mercado.

Then it’s the debut of “Jeff’s Table” by Gustavo Duarte! Mojo pulls Jeff the Land Shark and chef Paul Carmichael into a cooking competition! How can they win if Jeff keeps eating all the ingredients?

Next is an installment of “Spider-Ramen: The Biggest Crime of All” by Ken Miinura. Can Spider-Ramen get dinner home to Mochi Jane, or will Doctor Takoyaki get in the way? But my question is: if they’re all food, what are they eating?!

Then collected in print for the first time is the T.E.S.T. KITCHEN Infinity Comic, where food truck chef Anna gets a job offer from Tony Stark after Iron Man destroys her truck! Can she pass his test of cooking for his date, and get the job of Stark’s personal chef? Written by Paul Eschbach, with art by E.J. Su.

There are also some Daily Bugle articles and interviews throughout the issue! A fun read, especially the Jeff story! I do think this should have been an opportunity for Marvel to donate the proceeds from the sale of this comic to the World Central Kitchen, but I could not find any information that they did. If IDW could donate to wildfire relief in California with Godzilla Vs. Los Angeles, Marvel could make a public donation for WCK.

DC COMICS

Things are shaking up in Gotham… Batman may be protecting himself from Ivy’s spores, but she is still infecting his mind. Family secrets are revealed when Martha Wayne meets with a group from her past. Pennyworth may have some new allies, but will it even be enough to try to take down Grimm? Bruce makes a decision that will change his relationship with the city. Will Gotham ever be the same? Scott Snyder and guest artist Eric Canete have put out another wonderful issue.

If you’ve been reading the DC K.O. Aquaman tie-in issues, this continues Arthur Curry’s story with the newly released Omega energy, and the retitled book is a great jumping on point for the King of Atlantis! Mira and her mother fight for the fate of Atlantis after the Crimson Queen traps Aquaman in the Blue. Hidden within it, Aquaman must come together with versions of himself to break free, assert his place as the new Emperor Aquaman, and release Atlantis from the witch’s entrapment. With a new mission to protect not only the seas of Earth, but all worlds connected to the Blue, it’s a new era of Aquaman, with writer Jeremy Adams and artist John Timms.

SMALL PRESS COMICS

Godzilla is still rampaging across the U.S.A., and this time the King of Monsters is visiting Portland! Four stories from Portland creators about keeping Portland weird, and keeping Portland safe from Godzilla!

First, it’s “Godzilla Vs. Sasquatch” from Colleen Coover! Cryptid versus kaiju! When Godzilla wakes and stomps into the city, the only ones prepared to stop him are the stewards of nature, the Sasquatch!

Second, what’s on the new Portland signature hot dog? Two people are on a quest to find out! They’ll have to make their way through town, past Portland icons, to find out. If Godzilla doesn’t destroy the city first, in “Dog Day Afternoon” by Cat Farris.

Third, the legend of video game Polybius mixes with the legend of Godzilla! Someone’s using the game to summon Godzilla and destroy small businesses! What a jerk! Don’t get the “High Score” in Caitlin Yarsky’s story, or you’ll bring destruction to your favorite pizza place.

Fourth, the Resistance is ready when Godzilla arrives on Sandwich Fest day! With the sacrifice of food carts, and a special suit, the city’s many talents work together to help Portland survive in Mark Russell and Eryk Donovan’s “Under Siege in the 503.”

Missed the other cities? The hardcovers for Boston, Chicago, Kansas City, and Los Angeles are out this week too!

It’s Invincible Month! Season four of the Amazon Prime show is starting, and Image is putting out a ton of Invincible Team-Up variant covers, along with this foil reprint on Invincible #1 from 2003! Billed as the Best Superhero Comic in the Universe, Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker’s original superhero series has been a hit ever since, and now’s your chance to get the groundbreaking first issue, with the first appearances of Invincible, Omni-Man, and more!

Second print already announced! We have cover A (pictured above), and the NSFW polybagged variant available, so don’t miss out on the best “women-in-an-island-prison” exploitation film in comic form! Writer Patrick Kindlon and artist EPHK put a cast of beautiful, diverse actresses, escorts, and down on their luck women together for what should be a high paying, high class gig. They think they’re meeting with wealthy clients in Hong Kong, but soon learn they’ve been abducted and sent to an island prison! Which, of course, is run by a sadistic woman warden, with a whip and all the cleavage she can manage! Now these six women will have to work together if they want to escape, if they can trust each other! My cheap genre film loving heart truly enjoyed this book!

The magazine you demanded! Comics! The Magazine is jam-packed with articles, interviews, reviews, and comics! This first issue features Absolute Batman, a new Chew story, the history of comic book fanzines, and a price guide! If you’ve missed reading Wizard, this is the magazine for you, and it’s only $2.99! There are recommendations for March titles, including Tigress Island, which I also recommend, Top 10 lists for titles, artists, and writers, and even a checklist of the books mentioned in the issue to take to your favorite local comic shop! I haven’t gotten to read all of it yet, but this looks to be a great resource for new and old comic book readers alike. Add it to your pull list because upcoming issues feature Invincible Universe Battle Beast and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
