Greetings, Comic Shop Friends! Here’s what’s coming up!
Late Nite Comics is Thursday the 16th, 8pm to 11pm! We’ll have new (Yes, new!) boxes of dollar stock out for this one! And 50% off back issues like usual!
Saturday April 18th is Superman Day! Or should I say, Supergirl Takeover Day!
The Summer of Supergirl starts early! There will be exclusive hardcovers and single issues for the day, including a Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #1 exclusive variant!
DC has facsimiles of the first Action Comics, and the first appearance of Supergirl in Action Comics #252! We’ll have more details coming soon!
This week the city of Cleveland officially announced that April 18th is Superman Day!
The David Michelinie signing is coming up on Thursday the 30th at 6pm! We’re almost sold out of VIP tickets for the event, so let us know ASAP if you’d like one. They are $50, and you get five free signatures with that. If you’d like more, they’re $10 each after that, and it all goes to David’s local cat rescue, Purring Pals! John is moderating the Q & A with Michelinie at 6:30pm, the signing is after, and you can also pick up your FCBD books that night!

Free Comic Book Day is Saturday May 2nd! Michelinie will be here from 10am to 6pm that day for a free signing as well! You can get one item signed for free, and again, any after that are $10 each and it all goes to Purring Pals! Purringpals.org
This year’s print is available in the shop now (One per customer please!) and we will have some on FCBD so everyone has something for Michelinie to sign!

There are over 45 titles available this year, including one with Jeff the Land Shark! You’ll be able to pick up twelve free comics from those, and like always we’ll have the tables separated by “All Ages”, “Teen”, and “Adult”, so you can make sure what you’re picking up is appropriate.
We are using the same storefront as last year, the former tanning salon, so we get to keep all the comics goodness in our little corner!

We’ll have twenty local artists and vendors in the FCBD room, so please support them after you make your way through the free comic line!
The Rust Belt Monster Collective will be live painting a mural on the day again! This year’s theme is Spider-Man, Venom, and symbiotes!
One of our regular customers, Sam, also known as Sonny Boy Comics, will be filming and vlogging at the event as well! Check out his Instagram and YouTube at @sonnyboycomics
After you get your free comics, come in the store because we’ll have 50% off back issues!
John has more FCBD information on our website,
It’s our favorite day of the year, because it is all about comics and community!
MARVEL COMICS
The Web of Venom expands as an even all newer symbiote shows up! Wearing a Spidey inspired look! It’s not anyone that has been connected to a symbiote before, but it is someone that Spider-Man has had encounters with. Someone who is looking to make a comeback! Someone who wears a boomerang on his head! Don’t worry, you’ll get all the backstory you need, when Fred Myers explains how he and Passenger came to be where they are today! Passenger has been a head in a jar since landing on Earth in 1816, and is ready for adventures. Fred has been Boomerang, died and come back, and is done with team-ups. But with the new costume, the duo may be ready for crime! Or stopping crime! Or whatever! Writer Jordan Morris and artists Luke Ross and Ramon Rosanas have a goofy, fun one-shot, that may be continued, if Comeback can survive run-ins with Tombstone and Hawkeye, that is!
The X-Men title annuals this year are great stand-alone stories! This week we get the Uncanny X-Men Annual from writers Gail Simone and Mikki Kendall, and artist Francesco Mortarino with a tale of X-Men past! Who are the Regulators? (No, not Warren G and Nate Dogg.) In the present, Wolverine asks Jubilee to join him on a night out at a club. Logan has been keeping an eye on a young woman, but why? How does she, and Wolverine, fit into the story from the past? Over a century ago, former Buffalo Soldier and U.S. Marshal, Slaughter Freedman traveled to Haven, Louisiana. He’s looking for a place to bury his son, a place to rest, but what he finds is trouble. A gang of bandits demands he pay a toll, including the gold cross on his son’s casket. They don’t know who they’re messing with, and Slaughter makes short work of them, which leads him to find Logan in a shallow grave. Taking the half dead man with him, Slaughter finds sanctuary at Haven House, but peace is short lived, as the Sheriff is set to hang two children for murder. With the arrival of Henrietta, the fight that follows changes everything for the mutate living in Haven.
DC COMICS
Witness the fury of Firestorm! The Nuclear Man goes Next Level in Jeff Lemire and Rafael De Latorre’s new series! Bedford, Colorado: Day one, the Nuclear Man arrives. But this is not the Firestorm everyone knew. This Firestorm starts to experiment. Changing the city, turning buildings into sand, and land into glass. The Department of Defense has only one option, to bring in Firehawk. She doesn’t believe that Ronald Raymond would do this, but if it’s not Ronnie, then who or what is this Firestorm? Now the clock is ticking to find Dr. Martin Stein before the Firestorm spreads! What provoked him to commit these terrible experiments? Can anyone contain his fury?
SMALL PRESS COMICS
The Willow Haven gated community and the Open Arms Intentional Collective are connected by a secret tunnel. A tunnel that even the VP of the Willow Haven HOA doesn’t know about, and that is hidden from the Collective behind shelves in their pantry. When a member of each community discover a body in the tunnel at the same time, they believe the other is to blame. They’ll have to form an alliance and bridge the divide to find out who is responsible. Secrets from both communities will be uncovered, including why a woman from each neighborhood went missing on the same day. Who has the most to gain from the murder? How does it tie the two disparate communities together? Written by Sarah Gailey, with art by Haining.
Wherefore art thou Godzilla? In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, we find two households, both alike in dignity, and also Godzilla and Mothra! Writer Adam Tierney, and local artist Sean Peacock present their take on the classic tale of young love, but with all the kaiju that were missing! Sorry, Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet, this is the best adaptation of Shakespeare’s play! Plus, part one of Tom Scioli’s Godzilla Meets Robin Hood and His Merry Band of Outlaws!
We got to read an early preview of Everyone Loves a Jewel Thief a couple months ago, and we were sold! Tim Seeley and Aaron Campbell decide that there’s no one better to plan a heist, than a group of former D&D players! As kids, Scott Frederiksson and his friends executed heists in their ongoing game, so they should have no problem doing just the same in real life, right? Scott hasn’t been published in years, struggling to write anything of note. He’s about to lose his job at the University, lose his agent, and lose his girlfriend. With nothing else left to lose, and everything to gain, Scott convinces his best friend Andy that by stealing the Adamant diamond from local celebrity Leanna Pruhl, he can use the experience to write a bestseller. But best laid plans and all that… The rag tag team of childhood friends, drug dealers, and strippers will soon learn that just because they could pull it off in a game, doesn’t mean they have the skills to steal in real life! It’ll either be the greatest story Scott has ever told, or end tragically. After one heck of a meat hook at the end of this first issue, I’m leaning toward things going really, really, horribly terrible. But that’s going to make for a hell of a book!
