Andrea’s Absolute Knockout Picks for 12.24.2025
Merry Christmas Comic Shop Friends! We will be closed on the 25th, Christmas Day, but Ben has decided to stay until 8pm on the 24th as his gift to you!
It’s a regular Wednesday, and Santa must have decided we’ve all been good this year, because Ho-Ho-Holy crap is it an Absolute Knockout of a week! We’ll get to that, but first some news!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, to all of you who donated art and all of you who donated for raffle tickets! We’re always trying to beat the previous year’s record when we do our Holiday Art Show, and damn you delivered!
This year’s dollar total is $10,361, which will become 31,083 meals for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank! That is amazing! We could not have done it without you, so thank you again for every dollar you donated!
And because that puts us all on the nice list, we’re extending 50% off back issues until the end of the year! There’s still time to pick some up as a gift, and now you can use those gift certificates you got at Christmas for some back issue deals!
If you didn’t see the Facebook posts, Tim Misny stopped by to sign Bob Peck’s cover featuring an iconic Misny billboard, and to check out the shop! Now HE knows what we do!
As we get closer to the end of the year, here’s another reminder that we need you to pick up your files before the end of the year! The books sitting in files for months are all already paid for by us, pulled specifically for you, and as a small business, it’s a hindrance to have them piling up.
We’re always happy to make changes to your pull lists if you need to cut back, and understand that things happen and you may not be able to get everything every week, but we always have this end of year deadline.
Please make your best effort to come in before January 1st and clear out your file. We love selling you comics, and we want you to read all the great titles you have! Thank you and we appreciate you!
When you’re in picking up your comics, feel free to pick up one of our holiday posters! We have plenty left to give out through the end of the year!
MARVEL COMICS
Marvel has the last round of Age of Revelation titles wrapping up this week, including Undeadpool, Cloak or Dagger, Expatriate X-Men, and X-vengers! But we know you’re really here for these next two!
Chip Zdarsky and Cafu present the Will of Doom. In the aftermath of One World Under Doom, the Fantastic Four and Valeria Richards must decide what to do with Victor Von Doom’s last will and testament. The United States has to deal with the fallout, with General Ross planting a U.S. flag in Latveria, conspiracies about the FF’s involvement with Doom’s disappearance, and a threat of activated Doombots. Valeria may be the only one who can stop them, being the sole heir of the Doom estate. But the government has locked down Red Hulk and denied the Fantastic Four entry into Latveria, so anything they do will have to be covert. Can they stop the will of Doom? Will the Marvel Universe be the same? The fall of Doom leads to the rise of Armageddon!
Roxxon is back at it. To make up for creating AI photos for their Swimsuit Special, they’ve decided to fix global warming! Except, they’re making it snow… in the Savage Land. Welcome to the Winter Special! Rogue’s having no part of Roxxon’s shenanigans and gets a team together to stop their weather changing machine. Including Gwendolyn Poole, super-hero photographer, so you know there’s gonna be a ton of pin-ups! And oops! All their winter gear gets destroyed! It’s chilly half-dressed dino fighting action from Tim Seeley and Tony Fleecs, and Nick Bradshaw!
DC COMICS
Along with the Absolute Flash volume one paperback and hardcover, and Absolute Superman #14 (the end of a story arc and a fierce fight between Kal-El and Ra’s Al Ghul), we get the return of Absolute Martian Manhunter with a new story arc (continuing with the repercussions of the first arc), and the first Absolute crossover in Absolute Wonder Woman #15!
The first meeting of Absolute Batman and Absolute Wonder Woman! The first Absolute Team-Up! The Mark of Hecate has been appearing at crime scenes in Gotham, drawing Wonder Woman into Batman’s orbit. Bruce’s detective skills and Diana’s magic must work together to solve a series of grisly murders, that are hinting at something much more dangerous coming for the two heroes. Diana notices inconsistencies in the rituals that lead them to an abandoned church, and what the rituals were building toward. Who’s behind it? What are their plans for Wonder Woman and Batman? What will happen in the second part of the team-up in Absolute Batman #16?!? Kelly Thompson and Hayden Sherman do an excellent job of uniting the two characters and playing to their strengths. And it seems like this is going to lead to more Absolute crossovers, and I am here for it!
All fight month wraps up with not one, not two, but three head-to-head showdowns! And one tie-in issue with Justice League Unlimited #14!
Round six is Flash #28 with Jay Garrick and Guy Gardner battling for a spot in the next round and it starts with a game of checkers! Written by Mark Waid and Christopher Cantwell, with art by Vasco Georgiev.
Round seven is Superman #33 with Lex Luthor and the Demon! Featuring beautiful art by Absolute Wonder Woman artist Hayden Sherman, and written by Joshua Williamson. Does Lex Luthor have a soul? Will the Demon ever stop rhyming? Who will advance to the next bracket?
This is the fight you’ve been waiting for! Red Hood versus the Joker! Round eight is the final round and it’s a brutal battle between the Clown Prince of Crime and Jason Todd, and this one is personal. Written by Scott Snyder and Joshua Williamson, with art by Dustin Nguyen and Giuseppe Camuncoli. I’m not going to say anything, because there’s nothing I can describe without spoiling it. You know you’re going to get it, so I don’t have to sell you too hard!
