MARVEL COMICS
Happy April Pool’s Day! Let’s celebrate with a day of pranks! That’s what Deadpool has planned, but wait? Why is there a loincloth clad muscle man in his kitchen? And a lovely lady concerned about their impending nuptials? And Sgt. Storm’s Ragin’ Raiders are shooting him? There goes a day of tricks and gags, as Deadpool is pulled into a wizard’s plans to invade his universe! The old realms are disappearing, and the only way to save them is to transplant the Westerns, Love Stories, Fantasy, and Martial Arts comics into ours. Will anyone believe Wade Wilson when he warns them of Wally the Wizard’s wily ways? They’d better, or this will be the end of the Marvel Universe as we know it! A perfect read for April Fool’s Day from Gail Simone and artists C.F. Villa, Robert Gill, and Ig Guara.
Daredevil thought he knew everything in Hell’s Kitchen, the sounds, the buildings, the people, but something, someone, new has appeared. An Omen, a masked and hooded figure that portends that “One mask will fall as another is raised.” Hell’s Kitchen is full of secrets, but secrets don’t stay buried forever. Matt Murdock has started a new job teaching a law class at Empire State University, and it’s still business as usual for Daredevil, getting criminals off the streets, but as a new villain emerges with a message for Murdock, things are about to shake up. Is this new villain tied to the new murders, where bodies are left in the open? What is in store for Daredevil? A new, unprecedented era of Daredevil begins here, in Stephanie Phillips and Lee Garbett’s new ongoing series!
Simon Williams has a heck of a history! His ups and downs, his villainy, his heroism, his Hollywood career, he’s done it all, but right now his star isn’t shining too bright. His production deal at Timely studios looks to be something they’re using just to keep him around to take care of problems, and their newest problem involves an old friend. Randolph Chancellor was Simon’s cellmate and introduction to acting, but they aren’t currently on the best of terms. When the studio asks Simon to look into Randolph’s problem, a problem involving 13 million missing dollars, they’re going to have to work together once again. Gerry Duggan and Mark Buckingham do a great job of presenting the current Wonder Man in a new adventure, while referencing all the strange happenings from his past. He’s got a lot of history, and some of it is coming back, like Patsy Walker, Killerwatt, and his former agents. Like the song says, “Send lawyers, guns, and money— the #$%&’s hit the fan!”
Also, are you all excited that we’re going to get a second season of the Wonder Man tv show? I thought it was wonderful, no pun intended, and would love to see more of that Simon and Trevor friendship.
Lost memories are resurfacing, and Carol Danvers is trying to figure out where they fit in. Are they past, present, or future? Is her seventh sense returning? When the Wrecking Crew attack with new Kree enhancements, Captain Marvel is concerned that they know more about her past than they should. A scrap left at the scene with DNVR on it brings back more memories. It may be a part of an investigation she was forced to drop when she was a journalist, and it may be tied to her family’s history, especially a partially-remembered fight with her father. She’s faced with her toughest battle yet, digging into a dark part of the Danvers family history. What is Captain Marvel’s dark past? Written by Paul Jenkins, with art by Lucas Werneck.
