Artists Wanted and November Events at CNJComics
Since 2013 we’ve hosted a Holiday Art Show to benefit the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, where local artists create custom comic book covers that are won in a basket raffle system where one dollar gets you one ticket towards the cover of your choice. We’re excited to announce that this year’s theme is “Marvel Vs DC”!
Here’s how you participate! Stop by the shop and pick up a blank comic cover from us. They are free of charge and you can do two if you like. Please complete the cover with any medium you choose. (This includes digital! Many people now print their art out on cardstock and glue it to the book’s cover.) Give us your interpretation of “Marvel Vs DC” and you can take that in any direction that you want. The artwork must be turned in by Sunday, December 10th at 5pm. Please keep artwork to the front of the cover only, we only have the ability to display them this way. When you stop by to pick up a cover, please connect with an employee so they can take down your contact information. Artwork is displayed from December 13th to the 16th and won through the aforementioned basket raffle system where one dollar gets you one ticket towards the cover(s) of your choice. Winners will be drawn live at our Holiday Party on the night of December 16th, all are welcome to attend! This is your chance to turn your artistic skills into food for those in need during the holidays! This can be the one thing you do to help others during the holidays! Please share this info with any artist friends you may have! Each year we come to pretty much the same conclusion, that this is one of the most important things we put together. We are incredibly grateful to the community for its support of our endeavors.

Last year, through your help, we assisted the Cleveland Food Bank in creating 24,900 meals, bringing our event total to 140,608! Why do we support the Food Bank every year? Because they’re awesome, and the work they do in the community is unparalleled. It’s a cause we can all rally behind, the need for everyone to have a meal. especially during the holidays.
Save the date for that Holiday Customer Appreciation Party on December 16th! It runs from 8pm to 11pm, and we draw the winners live at 10:30pm. Free refreshments and everyone gets a 50% off any one item coupon to use at the party!
November Events:
In case you haven’t already heard, we’ll be closing down the shop on Monday and Tuesday (November 13th and 14th) to install new carpets. Please make an effort to clear out your file for us so we have less to move on the day. Every bit helps!
We’re skipping Late Nite Comics this month because of the big upcoming Black Friday Weekend Sale.
We’ll be closed for Thanksgiving on November 23rd, please enjoy the day with your family and friends.
Friday, November 24 till Sunday, November 26th is our big Black Friday Weekend Sale!
We’ll have 50% off back issues all weekend long including the wall. We will also have 20% off all statues and action figures, as well as 10% off everything else in the shop. (Yup, everything.) We will also fill the foyer with a huge amount of dollar stock, really everything that we have in our back room and storage locker. This is one of only two times each year that you get to see everything all at once! Buy 100 or more books and we’ll make them 50 cents each.
Our sale continues on Saturday, but it’s worth noting that it’s also Small Business Saturday and a great day to shop locally at your favorite stores to show your support. (Even if it’s not us!) Shop Small and feed the cat!

Sunday will be the final day of the sale, but we’ll also be setting up at Genghis Con that day as well, giving out free prints and comics.
Genghis-Con is the Cleveland area’s premier small press and independent comic convention, and we are proud sponsors of this event. This is the best possible way to check out your local Cleveland Art Scene. Artists! This is also a great place to pick up your blank cover for the art show! We will have some on-site that day. It’s always a fun event to go out to and see what everyone is up to.
