New Releases for May 20th

Secret Wars really starts to define it’s borders this week, with seven new #1 issues. It’s not a summer crossover, it’s the new Marvel Universe on Battleworld.

Here’s the featured new comic releases coming out Wednesday, May 20th, 2015.

Secret Wars

First up is a Secret Wars book that’s set apart from the rest, Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars #1.

Deadpool Secret Wars #1Cullen Bunn retells the original Secret Wars storyline as if Deadpool had been there the whole time. There’s even a really cool Contest of the Champions backup story with the same schtick. (This really is the type of fiasco that Deadpool’s character was created for.)

Secret Wars – Battleworlds

Next up are some Secret Wars “Battleworlds” titles, or books that help to expand the core Secret Wars title.

First up is the Ultimate End mini-series, a five part series by the creators of the Ultimate Universe, Brian Bendis and Mark Bagley.

Ultimate End #1Second is Master of Kung Fu #1.

Master of Kung Fu #1A four issue mini series featuring Shang Chi, Master of Kung Fu. “Derelict… Disgraced… Deadly!” Expect some martial arts guest stars in this realm of Battleworld.

Another four issue mini series will be Secret Wars: Battleworlds #1, a collections of short stories set in the Battleworlds.

Secret Wars Battleworld #1The first issue features a a short story with a Dr Strange possessed Punisher being hunted by Spider-Man, Wolverine, Hulk and Ghost Rider. Also, every M.O.D.O.K. from across the Battleworlds gathers together! Fun stuff.

Secret Wars – Warzones

Next are Secret Wars ‘Warzones” titles, or books that will help define the post Secret Wars Universe. While set on Battleworld, they are the titles that will most likely continue in some way after the Wars.

First up in this category is A-Force #1.

A-Force #1After her success with Ms Marvel, Marvel decided to give C. Willow Wilson a bigger job, wrangling a whole team of female characters in the tiny corner area of Battleworld called Arcadia. (check your map.)

Next is one I’m really excited about, Planet Hulk #1!.

Planet Hulk #1Set in Green Land (check your map again.) this is the Gamma Irritated Land where the Hulks rule, and it’s about to be infiltrated by the really stellar team of Captain America and Devil Dinosaur.

We’ve also got the return of six Spiders in Spider-Verse #1.

Spider-Verse #1You’ll get to see SPIDER-GWEN, SPIDER-MAN NOIR, SPIDER-MAN: INDIA, MAYDAY PARKER, SPIDER-UK and SPIDER-HAM back together again
