New Comics Releases for 12-28-2016

It’s the final week of 2016, and it’s pretty huge. We’ve got some storylines ending, some new one’s beginning, and a few stand alone stories to cap off your year right.

Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, December 28th, 2016.

Harley’s Little Black Book #5 features a stand alone story drawn by Neal Adams, and is an homage to the great Superman/Muhammad Ali story from the 1970’s.

The same aliens that brought about the fight between Superman and Ali return to match up Kal and Harley. Encase you didn’t know, Adams was the guy who drew the original story, so this really is a big deal.

RIP Muhammad Ali, FU 2016.

Civil War finally ends with issue #8 this week, which means historically we can say it was a complete product of 2016.

Not sure how many surprises are left. (thanks Marvel shipping schedule) We’re excited for the groundwork it’s laying though, with rift between generation, a heroic Dr. Doom, and Captain America’s Hydra still lurking in the shadows.

Another story reaches it’s conclusion in All Star Batman #5.

This will go down as a classic Batman story, and I’m sure we’ll be recommending the graphic novel for the foreseeable future when it comes out. Scott Snyder going his own way with Batman after his historic run. (Keep an eye out for the second issue of Snyder’s indie title this week, AD After Death from Image Comics.)

Let’s call Dark Knight III The Master Race a big win for 2016. While issue #7 isn’t the end, we can safely call it the penultimate issue, as Batman and Superman fight back to back against a horde of murderous Kandorians.

Love is Love is a $9.99 tribute issue to those who died in the Orlando shooting, co produced by IDW and DC Comics and featuring an A list line up or creators like Paul Dini, Brian Bendis, Phil Jimenez and more.

Marvel has two new #1’s this week, with Rocket Raccoon and She Hulk (just HULK now) getting their own ongoing titles.

We will be open regular hours on New Years Eve, and closed on New Years Day so we can eat Pork and Sauerkraut for good luck.

File customers please be advised that you are expected to clear out your file by year end. Just like a car dealership, we are taxed on unsold inventory at the end of the year, and that includes books and merchandise waiting to be picked up. The boys has been empowered to close files for people we haven’t heard from in over a month, and to put merchandise out that has been on hold for too long. No hard feeling, we always hate to do it, but it’s just what has to be done. (Do us a solid and clear your stuff out!) The good news is that if you come in on January 2nd, there’s going to be a bunch of out of print books hitting the shelf at cover price. Pick through the skeletons of other peoples lost opportunities!

Otherwise, 2016 has been a great year for us as a business, so thank you thank you thank you! (but when it comes to the year as a whole, FU 2016. FU and don’t come back.)

RIP Carrie Fisher, and let’s look forward to a new year in 2017!

Peace!
