MARVEL COMICS

The Sentry is back! But so is the Void… Paul Jenkins and Christian Rosado are diving into the duality of Bob Reynolds, the most powerful entity in the universe. He’s returned to Earth, but he’s brought the Void, his dark half, with him. Navigating putting on a happy face for his wife, the Avengers, and the public, isn’t going well, as he knows that the violence and strange crystalline substance appearing around the world is the work of the Void. The Void has plans of his own after their return, and it starts with scaring the crap out of Kingpin. What is his end goal? A story about the battle within yourself to balance what you present to the world, and what is happening with your mind and emotions. Imagine living with depression, and having it manifest into a real-life dark entity, threatening not just your life, but the entire world. Sentry is forced to deal with impossible choices and devastating consequences, as every good thing he does is countered with a bad thing from the Void. How do you save everything, when the cost may be the loss of everything?

DC COMICS

DC is taking things to the Next Level! The first three new titles following DC K.O. start this week!

Greg Rucka returns to Batwoman, right where he left off! The co-creator of modern Batwoman teams with artist DaNi for the new Next Level ongoing series, continuing Kate Kane’s branch of the Bat-Family tree. Kate has lived in the shadow of a prophecy since she was a child, and now a religion devoted to the end of all things wants to pull her into their fold. She has already lost her twin sister to their machinations. This is how it has to be. “How do you fight the devil when the devil is real?” She won’t be pulled in without a fight, and this is the series that will redefine Batwoman and her mission.

DC’s contract killer is back and bloodier than ever as Tony Fleecs and Carmine Di Giandomenico push Deathstroke onto the Next Level! Slade Wilson is a soldier turned superhuman, whose skills have made him an assassin for hire. Deathstroke’s newest client hasn’t given him much information on the target, just the request he does it quietly, but they should know that’s not how he does things. It’s about to get loud, get violent, and things are about to take a turn. He’s made hundreds of enemies in his life as an assassin, and now one of them is destroying his life piece by piece. What happens when you take away everything that makes this terminator human? You get a bogeyman dead set on bloody revenge, who will kill anyone in his way to find out who is behind it. Action and intrigue combine in Deathstroke’s new ongoing series!

The creative team behind some of our favorite books, Ain’t No Grave and The Me You Love In the Dark, Skottie Young and Jorge Corona bring their talents to DC and to Lobo! They’re taking the Main Man to the Next Level in Lobo’s new ongoing series! Traveling the galaxy with Dawg on his kickass motorcycle, Lobo is the hardest fraggin’ bounty hunter, so all you bastiches better watch out. He’s about to blast a bounty, when he gets a call that it’s canceled. His code means that dude’s free to go, because Lobo only extincts things for someone else if he’s getting paid. But he’s gonna find out who canceled it, and they better have his money! The ultra-violent, super-quippy anti-hero is shooting his blood-and-guts soaked way across the universe and nothing is going to stop him! Except maybe this new offer from Omni Mega + Entertainment, because everyone loves an anti-hero! Worried about jumping into a new Lobo series without knowing anything about him? Don’t worry, he’s about to tell you his entire life story to catch you up! Want to know what he was doing before this series? Grab a copy of the DC K.O. Wonder Woman Vs. Lobo one-shot! We got ‘em!

And you know I have to mention the new issue of Wonder Woman! Tom King is back after the two issue interlude, and the Wonder War starts here! The Matriarch has killed the Justice League. Lizzie, Jon, and Damian have a plan to take the God Killer sword from her. What exact event led Lizzie and Lyssa to where they are now? What led to the Wonder War?

SMALL PRESS COMICS

The Super Creepshow one-shot was such a hit, they brought it back as a mini-series! We get two superpowered horror shorts in each issue! This first issue is two tales of teenage love, with that classic Creep twist! First, Kieron Gillen and Rossi Gifford’s “Creeping” has an outcast teen bitten by a radioactive spider! What follows is more like The Fly than Spider-Man, as Marcus and his crush Beth deal with his new changes. Second, Ryan North and Derek Charm present a cautionary tale of wishing for super speed, in “Speed Freak.” Ron and Betty are bullied, but they have each other. Until a mysterious ring gives Ron the superpower he’s always wanted, and the ability to enact revenge on the bullies of the world. Where will he stop? Can he stop?!

Prom night, 1997. Five friends, Alicia, J.T., Ryder, Morgan and Brandy, die that night. They wake and it is Prom night, 1997, and again, the five friends die in a horrible way. Again, they wake up and it is once again Prom night in 1997. Over and over, they are forced to relive that terrible night, and over and over, they die in new and increasingly strange ways. No matter what they do, or what they try to change, the same people die and the same people live. But after over 11,000 tries, something is finally different. They don’t know how or why, but the group may have finally found a way out of the weird purgatory cycle. What lies on the other side? Is it any better than reliving high school? Writer Jude Ellison S. Doyle and artist Caitlin Yarsky give us a great late 90s horror movie homage, with all the teen tropes and death and destruction we loved then.

You know we love orange cats around here, so of course I had to put the new four-issue mini-series Baby Garfield in the newsletter! Just look at those big baby kitty eyes! Each issue features some of Garfield’s “firsts” as a tiny troublemaker from various writers and artists. Learn the stories behind your favorite lasagna loving feline’s first word from writer Grace Ellis and artist Asia Simone, as Jon misreads Garfield’s cues for food! Then, writer Michael Northrop and artist Rob Justus tell the “tail” of Garfield’s first hairball! If he doesn’t want Jon to brush him, he’ll have to learn how to clean himself. So cute! An adorable all-ages book perfect for cat lovers!
