Andrea’s Historical Picks for 11.12.2025

Hello Comic Shop Friends! Here’s a recap of what’s happening this month before we get into some new books!
The Black Friday Weekend Sale is coming up! Wednesday the 26th through Sunday the 30th! (Except for Thursday the 27th when we’re closed for Thanksgiving.) We’ll have 50% off all back issues, and the foyer will be open and stocked with a hundred new dollar stock boxes!
On Saturday the 29th from 6pm to 7pm indie comic creator Nate Powell will be in the shop for a free signing! Pictured are a few of his books, and we have more on our Rec Wall! He’ll also be a guest the following day at Genghis Con, so visit him there as well. I read Fall Through in a day, and highly recommend that if you’re into the DIY music scene, house shows, punk, and magic.
Then Sunday the 30th is Genghis Con! Cleveland’s indie comic and zine show! It’s super fun, and Ben will be there to sign up artists for our annual Holiday Art Show. Go out and support some great local artists! They’re presenting some other events in conjunction with the Con, so check those out!
MARVEL COMICS
Someone is pulling on the sacred threads of history, and the future of the United States of America is about to unravel! The Avengers, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Spider-Man, along with Doctor Strange and Clea, are about to make history! When the ghost of Ben Franklin visits Strange to warn him of what’s to become of the U.S., the only way to ensure the future remains as it is, is to assemble the Avengers in 1776! Traveling back in time at the dawn of the Revolution, they are America’s only hope at safeguarding the fledgling nation and the current timeline, but with spies, opportunists, and powerful magic working against them, it’s about to become a Hulk-sized task! Written by J. Michael Straczynski, with art by Sean Damien Hill and Ron Lim.
Written by Ethan Sacks, with art by Elvin Ching, and in collaboration with director Dan Trachtenberg, this one-shot is the official prequel to the new Predator: Badlands film! A young Yautja is tasked by his father to retrieve a piece of technology from the ruins of a crashed spaceship. This seemingly simple task won’t be as easy as Dek believes, and his chance to prove himself to his clan goes awry. Hidden in the wreckage is a machine with one directive: to protect the crew. Now it’s man versus machine, and the Predator will become the prey!
DC COMICS
Artist Mark Buckingham joins G. Willow Wilson on the Poison Ivy Annual for a tale of a sorceress, a young king, and a sword. Humanity seems set on destroying the Earth, pushing progress at the cost of nature. Searching for a way to save plant, animal, and human, Ivy sets out to find the Tree of Knowledge, but like others before her, tasting the tree’s fruit gives her more knowledge than she bargained for. Learning the history of a sorceress who maintains a peace between a forest and a village, Ivy finds that humans have always broken their promises made to nature in service of power and control. A lovely fable, and a great point to jump into the Poison Ivy title.
Evan Narcisse and Nikolas Draper-Ivey return to the Beyond Universe, that will send a shock to your system! In the future, Neo-Gotham is patrolled by Batman Beyond, and Dakota City has forged a new technological revolution thanks to Static. Working together with the Justice League Beyond, they’ve created Shockwave, a new starship to prove Earth’s worth to be inducted into the Cooperative. Along with marauders attacking the vessel’s first voyage, things on Earth aren’t going smoothly either. Groups are protesting the new Q-Wave Energy Grid, and student Melvin Kim has his own personal reasons for joining the protests. With Jokerz causing chaos and a new villain arriving, the unlikely duo of Static and Batman Beyond must work together to save the world before it’s too late!

This time written by the creator of Gargoyles, Greg Weisman, with art by George Kambadais, and told as two concurrent stories running top and bottom of each page. Underground, Mole Man has kaiju! Ben and Johnny are asked to investigate a hidden tunnel by Broadway and Angela, and they could use a little help from the rest of the Fantastic Four. But aboveground, Reed and Sue’s plans for anti-kaiju measures are interrupted by some unwelcome visitors and their plans to open a door into the Negative Zone! And Franklin, Valeria, and Gnash have ended up there too! Can the First Family and the Stone Guardians make their split-up team-up work to stop Coldsteel, Mole Man, Gargoyle, Gremlin, and Annihilus? A new ongoing series about two seemingly normal families in Verona, Wyoming, from the head writer of the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption video games, Dan Houser, with co-writer Lazlow and artist David Lapham. A gambling addicted lawyer with a vitriol spewing wife and two kids who hate him envies his neighbor, the head of a Mormon family with a hot wife and beautiful children. But even the most perfect families on the outside hide dark secrets. Pulling in politics, corrupt businesses, criminal activities, and real-estate deals gone wrong, this is a crime caper about American culture, and how every tragedy is someone else’s fault.
Long before the Foot Clan was corrupted by Shredder, their purpose was to protect Japan. From kaiju! Now it seems that Shredder may be behind the reappearance of Godzilla, and now the Heroes in a Half-Shell are taking on the King of the Monsters! Splinter has first hand knowledge of the giants, but that alone won’t be enough for the Ninja Turtles to stop Godzilla, when Krang has plans for a new mutagen, with possible MASSIVE upgrades! Tim Seely and Fero Pe present the biggest crossover as the TMNT have to protect both Japan and New York from both the Foot Clan and Godzilla!
