Jim Shooter at Free Comic Book Day and VIP Raffle Info

Hey everyone! It’s that time of year again! We’ll have an email out soon with all the Free Comic Book Day details but for now let’s talk about our guest of honor this year, Jim Shooter! Jim’s had an incredibly prolific career, writing for DC comics at age 14, then becoming Marvel’s Editor in Chief from 1978 to 1987. Jim’s written some of my favorite Avengers comics, as well as the original Secret Wars! Check out more on this amazing man! This was the inspiration for this year’s FCBD poster, the cover of Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #8. This year we’ll be giving this 11×17 cardstock poster out for free with any purchase starting now! Happy Wednesday, Carol and John’s Shoppers! We’ve got a big week this week in the shop with plenty of new series, from both Marvel and DC, and a lot from small press publishers too. There’s bound to be something for everyone, so let’s see what’s in store for comic readers for the first week of April. Small Press New this week from Vault, it’s West of Sundown! Co-written by horror maestros Tim Seeley and Aaron Campbell and drawn by the wicked Jim Terry, West of Sundown is the newest entry in Vault’s Nightfall horror line and is a trip to the New Mexico desert filled with blood and monsters. Vampire Constance der Abend and her loyal assistant Dooley are forced to flee New York City, and are now on a mission to restore Constance’s undead flesh at the place of her ancestral birth in the town of Sangre de Moro to the west. Hey there, everybody. Welcome to another week of great comics at Carol and John’s Comic Shop! The weather is slowly warming up and so are the comic book storylines. There’s a big new event starting up in the Bat-corner of DC Universe and the mutants of Krakoa are plotting big things as well at Marvel. Hey there, Carol and John’s Shoppers. This month is flying by, and I think part of that is because of just how great each week has been for new comics. This week is another biggie, so buckle up, it’s a good one. DC Comics New from DC’s Black Label imprint (and finally something that isn’t Batman-related for once), writer Joshua Williamson and artist Leomacs team up for a new miniseries called Rogues. The Flash and Central City have some of the coolest and most unique villains in the DC Universe, and in this series, Captain Cold brings the gang back together again for a neo-noir heist, unlike anything the city has ever had seen. “Ten years ago, the Rogues disbanded and went their separate ways. Hey, Carol and John’s Shoppers! Raf here delivering some of the new releases we have in store this week. We’ve got a lot to cover, including some new number #1s, a few shop favorites finally available in trade, and a raffle opportunity for the rest of the week. Let’s go! DC Comics Mark Waid returns to DC Comics this week with the launch of Batman Superman World’s Finest! Set in the not-too-distant past, Metropolis is attacked by Poison Ivy bringing the Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder, Robin, into the City of Tomorrow. Hey there, Carol and John’s Shoppers. First, I wanted to say thank you all to those who came out to our Winston World Sale this past weekend. I may have missed it myself, but I heard it was a big success from all the guys back here at the shop.
