Joker’s 80th Anniversary at CNJComics 6-10-2020

Joker’s 80th Anniversary at CNJComics 6-10-2020

Well, some of the back log has started to work it’s way to the shop, and we’ve got a really great week of new comics! DC Comics The big book of the week is the Joker 80th Anniversary issue! 100 pages for $9.99! Decades variants just like the previous specials. Full of Joker art work and short stories. We went long on this one so you should be good to come in anytime this week. (on that note, if you didn’t pick up the Catwoman 80th last week you should have. It was super fun and well worth the money. We sold out but we’re getting more back in.) Also, finally, our copies of Batman #92 are in! If you’ve been looking to follow up on Punchline, the Joker’s new apprentice,/ girlfriend(?) then this is the book for you. For even more Batman, there’s a Secret Files this week, as well as the new Batman Adventures Continues mini series. (written by Paul Dini, who was basically in charge of the original animated series!) Marvel Comics Marvel is shipping comic books...

Featured New Releases for 6-3-2020 at CNJComics

Featured New Releases for 6-3-2020 at CNJComics

This is one of the first week’s we can focus on new comic releases! Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, June 3rd 2020! DC Comics First up is this amazing Catwoman 80th Anniversary Special! Clocking in at $9.99 it’s full of so much great material I can’t say enough about it. The Ed Brubaker / Cameron Stewart story reads like an homage to Darwyn Cooke and it’s worth the price of admission alone. Lots of decades variant covers too. They’ve done these anniversary issues for other characters but this one comes off as a labor of love for all involved. Next week is the Joker! Also in the $9.99 range is the new Birds of Prey Black Label one shot, set in the continuity of the new Harley Quinn movie. Written by Brian Azzarello, who gave us 100 Bullets and showed us Batman’s weenus in Batman Dammed. Worth the price! Marvel Comics Marvel only has graphic novels this week as part of their slow return to publishing, which we’re a fan of. The standout this week is...

New Comic Day at CNJComics 5-27-2020

New Comic Day at CNJComics 5-27-2020

We finally have a full (well pretty much sorta) New Comic Day at the shop! Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, May 27th, 2020.  Marvel Comics We finally have some new Marvel Comics on the table, even though it’s only five titles.  Avengers #33 is super fun, with Moon Knight taking on the whole team one by one. Jason Aaron stills nails it with this title. We also have the final part of Donny Cates’ Venom Island story in Venom #25. Over-sized with lots of cool variants.  For Star Wars fans Doctor Aphra gets a new #1. Think a female Indiana Jones that isn’t always on the right side of things.  We also have new issues of Marauders and Amazing Spider-Man! This is how it’s going to be with Marvel, a slow ramp up that will continue until mid July. Here’s a look at next weeks slate and it’s all graphic novels, no new comics. DC Comics I’m a huge Starman fan and by proxy Stargirl too. The show was great! A had a fun time watching...

New Comics at CNJComics 5-20-2020

New Comics at CNJComics 5-20-2020

Well, we made it through our first week, and it wasn’t that bad. It’s a little weird for a shop that prides itself on hand-selling and browsing to work through masks with an occupancy limit, but this is just the way it’ll be for a while. We had about an 85% compliance rate with masks and that’s pretty good in my book. We’ll never demand that you wear one, and we won’t shame you if you don’t, but we do strongly suggest it for the safety of others in our community. You all came out in full force and we had a great week, only tipping into the occupancy limit a couple times. We thank everyone for being understanding during a week that had a very steep learning curve for us. Remember, this won’t go on forever but it’s the new norm for a while. Remember, we are now closed on Monday for a deep cleaning! We are available for curbside regular hours if you need anything, but we’re glad we decided to have this day to help us catch...

CNJComics is Open for Business

CNJComics is Open for Business

We had a great first day with a very steep learning curve, but we made it through with your help and understanding. Carol even stopped by to wish us Godspeed. It’s really hard for a business that trades on browsing and hand selling (and large events) to work behind facemasks and limit the number of people in the shop. But the harder it is, the more it feels like the right thing to do. Oh yeah, we got a shout out from the Governor yesterday too. New Comics don’t start coming out till next Wednesday, May 20th. No Marvels till the 27th but here’s a link to what’s coming out on the 20th! So no new comics but here’s some awesome reason to stop in the shop! 50% off all back issues and 20% off all statues, action figures and pop funs until May 19th! We even got some new early bronze DC’s in that have never been in a live show or gallery sale. We have ten hand picked graphic novels for only $5 each to give you lots...

CNJComics Reopens on May 12th

CNJComics Reopens on May 12th

Well, we’re finally on ‘the other side’. CNJComics is set to reopen as per the Governor’s orders on Tuesday, May 12th! We’ve got a lot of measure in place to keep both staff and customers safe, many of which we were already doing before we were shuttered on March 23rd. We’ve been closed up for seven weeks now, and while we’ve been doing well with Facebook Live Sales and your ongoing orders, there’s nothing like selling stuff to people face to face. (or mask to mask for awhile.) Here’s everything you need to know about our reopening protocals. To be clear, we will be compliant with all Mandatory standards for Govenor DeWine’s Responsible RestartOhio program, as well as some recommended Best Practices that his office has suggested. (These protocols have also been cleared with the staff, and they are comfortible with them, which is a really important thing to know.) In a nutshell, it’s all about distancing, sanitizing and face coverings. For distancing we have installed a barrier at check out, and we’ve learned the bigger the better. It’s so...
