Marvel Comics #1000 and Featured New Releases at CNJComics 8-28-2018

Marvel Comics #1000 and Featured New Releases at CNJComics 8-28-2018

This is a huge week, but by far the biggest stand out is the epic Marvel Comics #1000! One huge $9.99 perfect bound book with an incredible list of creators! I had a chance to read this book last month and I’m a big fan. Every page is a quick vignette representing a different year in Marvel’s history, starting with the first panel of Marvel Comics #1. The core backstory was written by Al Ewing of Immortal Hulk. It’s not going to be for everyone but I really enjoyed the format and the history involved.  Here’s Marvel’s promo video, as this book made a big splash at D23 last week.  We have a lot of covers coming in so come in early on Wednesday to pick yours out! Here’s a gallery of covers as they’re all really fun to look at! Absolute Carnage continues with it’s second issue by Donny Cates. Such a great modern tribute to the 90’s. We have enough books to fill pre orders as well as some copies hitting the table! We also finally have pre-orders...

Featured New Releases for 8-14-2019

Featured New Releases for 8-14-2019

This has been a great end to the summer, with both Absolute Carnage and Jonathan Hickman’s X-Titles both being huge winners both in content and sales.  Carnage!! We sold out of Absolute Carnage last week, and we ordered A LOT. The book is also sold out nationally but I have 50 more first prints coming in at cover price this week! This was a $7.99 book and was worth every penny. It’s a classic Spider-Man – Venom – Carnage story that reads like a modernized 90’s story. Donny Cates man. Whew.  We can’t vouch for how any of the crossovers will be but we highly recommend having any that you are interested in held as demand will be high and orders were low, so many titles may not even hit the table as they are already sold out at the distributor level.  So, here’s the checklist again to print out, fill in and turn into the shop.  This week is Absolute Carnage Scream #1 and the Absolute Carnage Separation Anxiety One Shot, and we only have a few of each...

Carnage is here at Carol and John’s

Howdy Comic Fans! The big boss is on vacation again (hasn’t he been everywhere there is to be yet?) So y’all get your favorite friendly neighborhood comic shop employee for this special edition, Carnage-ized, email! Carnage to the Max There are upwards of 200 comic titles that come out new every Wednesday, and this week bodes no difference. Except that the title we at Carol and Johns is most excited about is Absolute Carnage! Cover By Ryan Stegman Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman had been working on this crossover epic conceptually since before the 2018 Venom ongoing series launched. Most of us were first introduced to the hell that carnage was about to unleash on earth with this year’s Free Comic Book Day Spider-Man issue. The first issue of the Absolute Carnage five-issue mini-series drops in the shop this Wednesday but the threads of this story have been bolstered and woven for almost ten years. Cates is a master of connecting stories of his and other great writers from across multiple series and story arcs. There are 13 variant covers...

We had a great Swap Meet with hundreds of people stopping by. I got some great stuff for myself, and I got to take the family shopping around the booths too, which made for a fantastic event. Thanks to all who came out and braved the heat. Thanks to NEO-TACC for making it all possible. We got a little press too! WINSTON MERCH! The big news is we finally got some Winston pub glasses and stickers made! Enjoy a beer and a comic with this spectacular pint glass! Only $11.99. (they say they are dishwasher safe but I doubt it!) There are also three different styles of Winston stickers at $2.00 each! Thanks to Dee Piotrowski for the artwork! MARVEL COMICS This is a great week for Marvel Comics, and it starts with the highly anticipated House of X #1 by Jonathan Hickman!  This book is the start of a multi year plan to reinvent the X-Men franchise before the movies begin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  Hickman will write two books side by side, this book and Powers of...

Featured New Releases for 7-10-2019

Featured New Releases for 7-10-2019

We’ll have a full email on the NOT-AT-COMICON Sale and Swap Meet coming out this week, but first here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, July 10th, 2019! Marvel Titles The big book of the week is the oversized Amazing Spider-Man #25, which begins Nick Spencer’s 2nd year as writer on the book. It’s got some Mysterio in there too, for everyone who dug the character in Spider-Man Far From Home.  Lots of variant covers too! $7.99 cover price.  Marvel’s other selections are all over the place, and good summer fare.  Wolverine Vs Blade One Shot.  I was going to write this book off but flipping through it today it’s pretty graphic and a good one off selection.  Wolverine and Captain America Weapon Plus One Shot. This one looks great! Ethan Sacks wrote Old Man Hawkeye, which was fun. Throw in a 1940’s story expanding on Steve and Logan’s history together and you’ve got a winner. There’s also a new Invisible Woman mini-series by Mark Waid, the epilogue to War of the Realms with an Omega issue, another...
