Andrea’s Exceptional Picks for 09.04.2024

First thing: One of our major shipments was delayed, so we will not have DC, Image, and some small press titles on the table Wednesday morning. It is scheduled to be delivered, so if books are missing from your file, just know they’re on the way and we will process that shipment and get those to you as soon as we can!  Welcome to September, Comic Shop Friends! We’re getting closer to Halloween, so if you want to start your spooky season now, we have a bunch of great horror titles we’ll recommend! Including some this week! This month’s Late Nite Comics is on Thursday the 19th! 8 pm to midnight! Dollar books galore! 50% off back issues! Will the wall be included? Stop out to find out! Can’t make it to Late Nite? Then come on out on Saturday the 21st! We’ll be doing an all-day 50% off back issue sale! Some of the hardcovers and art books that John picked up recently will be part of a raffle too! More details coming on that. Books and Comics at...

Andrea’s Monster Picks for 08.28.2024

Hello, hello Comic Shop Friends! First, thank you to all of you who bought dollar books this month! Thanks for buying thousands and thousands of dollar books! We were just under 3000, so John added a shop donation to bring our total to donate to the 988 Lifeline to $3041! (The 41 being Ed Piskor’s age.) Through their raffle, Ed Piskor’s Legacy were able to raise $1176, and another $325 was collected by Pop Up Collectables, to bring their grand donation total to $4524! John and I were at the inaugural Eddie P Comic Con this past Saturday. Here we are with the Piskor siblings, Bri, Justine, and Bobby. The big news is that Ed Piskor’s last finished work, Switchblade Shorties, will be released! We didn’t get details yet, but this is the flyer. I’ll have one in the shop if you want to scan the QR code. Bobby Piskor caught me in one of his photos of the Con! I bought so many comics! And other great stuff, but spending money doesn’t count when it’s at a small local...

Andrea’s Picks for 08.21.2024

Hi there Comic Shop Friends! This week is pretty quiet, so here are a couple of reminders, and then on to some new books! There are still a few more days to donate to the 988 Lifeline. All our dollar book sales will be donated, and it looks like we’re on track to make that total well over $2000! Thank you to all of you who have picked up dollar books this month. I’ll be heading to Pittsburgh this Saturday to drop off our donation at Eddie P Comic Con. Ed Piskor’s family, @ed_piskors_legacy and @eddipcomicon on Instagram, have organized a local con in honor of Piskor, and are raising money for the 988 Lifeline during the event. We’re putting together a raffle basket to donate to their raffle, in addition to the dollar book funds we’ve raised. I’ll be there all day, and John may be stopping by later. Cartoonist Kayfabe-ers Jim Rugg and Tom Scioli will be in attendance, along with a bunch of indie creators and vendors! It looks like it’ll be a fun time, so if...

Andrea’s Post Storm Picks for 08.14.2024

Hi Comic Shop Friends! I hope you’re all safe and with power after last week’s storms. We were lucky the shop didn’t lose power and we could provide you with reading material while the internet was out. All of us here lost power at home, and as of Tuesday morning, all have it back again. What a week! As we all deal with unexpected costs due to the storm, we understand if you need more time to pick up your books, just let us know, and we’ll be happy to hold them. But on that note, if you do have the budget for books: This Thursday the 15th is Late Nite Comics! 50% off back issues! Tons of dollar stock! And like we announced last week, all sales of dollar books, including Late Nite, will be donated to the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. We’ll be taking what we collect and adding it to the total at Eddie P Comic Con on Saturday, August 24th. Ed Piskor’s family has put together the Eddie P Comic Con in West Mifflin PA,...

Andrea’s Cruel Universe of Picks for 08.07.2024

FIRST, A note from the webmaster here at CnJ Comic Shop. We want to let you all know you are in our thoughts and our hopes are the storm that tore so tragically through some parts of Northern Ohio last night has left you safe even if without power. I share this moment with you as I work the site and mail this morning from a McDonald’s near my home where there is no power, nor any of my loved ones. Grabbing power and wifi where available seems a common thread this morning. We’re doing this together and hope you are as safe as possible! Now, to the message from the amazing and incomparable Andrea! Hello, hello Comic Shop Friends! A few bits about upcoming events, and then it’s onto this week’s comics! First, if you’re reading this before Wednesday night, stop out for the Midnight Rental Secret Screening at the Grog Shop! It’s Ben’s half-birthday, and he’s planning on celebrating! Doors at 7 pm, show at 8 pm, only $10! Our next Late Nite Comics is Thursday the 15th...

Hey, Comic Shop Friends! We have a fifth Wednesday this week, so it should give you a little break after our Not at Comic Con Sale! I grabbed a Toxic Avenger #1, and someone needs to pick up the Turkish Spider-Man before I do just for the novelty. They’re all 25% off the price marked! In other news, John and Raf will be setting up at NEO Comic Con on Sunday, August 4th in North Olmsted! Stop out, say hi, and see what they have! The next Late Nite Comics will be on Thursday, August 15th! Open until midnight! Tons of dollar books! We’ll have more details on that later. Onto the comics!
