Andrea’s Brave & Bold Picks for 05.17.2023

Hey Comic Shop Friends! Sorry about no newsletter last week, but I’m back to full health now, which is great because there’s a lot going on! First, thanks for a great Free Comic Book Day! We still have a few titles left from the event that you can pick up. I can’t write anything better than Ben’s thoughts on FCBD, so check out our Facebook page for his post. And there are tons of great pictures taken by shop friend Laura, so check those out too! Second, speaking of Laura, she has another live Midnight Rental Secret Screening on the 17th, so we’re doing a late birthday celebration for me at the Grog Shop Wednesday night! Check out Lenora’s Midnight Rental on YouTube too. She’s on the Found Footage Festival’s channel Third, this Thursday, the 18th, from 8 pm to midnight, is Late Nite Comics! It’ll be Marvel-ous! We’ll have 40 long boxes of new unprocessed Marvel dollar stock on the table, and back issues will be 50% off! (Except for the wall books.) Fourth, like always, there’s a bunch...

Free Comic Book Day 2023 at CNJComics

Free Comic Book Day is coming on Saturday, May 6th, from 10 am to 7 pm! Yes, this is our 22nd time hosting this event! Everyone attending will get to pick out 12 comic books from the 46 that are being offered! (12 Gold titles, 31 Silver titles, and 3 DC titles.) We’ll be using the same space we normally use in an empty storefront in the plaza 150 feet from our storefront. (17430 Lorain Ave is the address of the FCBD books, and 17462 is the location of our shop.) Books this year range from Super-Hero: to All Ages: To more adult-oriented Independent fun: All books have three age ratings, Green for All-Ages, Blue for Teens (meaning 13+, but typically meaning nothing too objectionable), and Red for Mature (meaning 18+). We keep the books in groups by color, with the red ones at the very end of the line, so parents keep a lookout. We have over 20,000 books to give away, but as always, we recommend coming early for the best selection. You can check out all the...

Free Comic Book Day Updates at CNJComics

It’s time for a couple of updates to the info we’ve already sent out! First up and most importantly, we got this year’s Free Comic Book Day lithographs in! Inspired by Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 (featuring the first appearance of the Sinister Six) and designed by Jameson Campbell! The printer made an error and we received our order on poster paper instead of 14-point cardstock, but that error has since been corrected. Prints are free with any purchase and you can pick yours up now at the shop! You can even take an extra poster print if you’d like to hang it up somewhere to promote the event. The good news is we’ll have the poster prints to give away on the day if we run out of cardstock. (which did happen early last year!) As stated before Jameson will be signing prints from 10 am to noon on Free Comic Book Day. We’re also happy to report that we’ve gotten all of our free comic book shipments in and we’re ready to go. No major shortages of any kind...

Hey everyone! Here are our final updates for Free Comic Book Day! The event starts at 10 am on Saturday, May 6th, and lasts until 7 pm! Here’s a look at the books you get to choose from. You’re allowed to pick twelve this year! Also, be mindful of the age ratings on the books. We keep them separated on the tables as well, with the five red titles being at the end of the line. We have also procured one thousand (!) graphic novels to give away one per person. You get to pick that out before you enter the free comic book area. Here’s a closer look at some of the graphic novels that will be available: Be mindful of the age ratings on the back of the graphic novels as well, and please ask a staff member if you have a question about any of them. As we always say, ‘Come early for the best selection!” Remember, you don’t have to wait in line if you just want to go into the free comic book room to...
