Raf’s Bat-tacular Week of New Releases 3.2.2022

Greetings Carol and John’s Comic Shoppers! It’s a new month which means the monthly cycle of comics resets. All is right in the world… the world of comics that is at least. This weekend is our big Winston World sale (more on that later) and we’ve got a GREAT week of new comics to celebrate the occasion. DC especially has a big week this week as they prepare for the new Batman movie’s premiere in just a few short days. I’ll be out of town this weekend going to Niagara Falls, but I made sure my girlfriend knew that that didn’t mean she’d get to miss out on her boy Robert Pattinson on the big screen. I already bought our IMAX tickets. But before all that, we’ve got to see what’s new. Let’s go! DC Comics Perfectly timed for the movie this weekend, Tom King has a brand-new, action-packed Batman miniseries starting this week with the 6-issue Batman: Killing Time. Catwoman, Riddler, Penguin, and Killer Croc have teamed up to pull the heist of a lifetime on one of Gotham’s...

Raf’s Biggest Week of Featured New Releases for 2.23.2022

Hey there, CNJ Shoppers and welcome to the last week of February for 2022. There have been some great comics to come out already this year, but this week is easily the BIGGEST week for new releases we’ve seen in the shop all year. We’ve got plenty of new number 1’s, continuations of some of the best books being released right now, and a few great trades all in the shop this week. There’s a lot to unpack, but let’s check out the biggies in this week. Marvel Comics “JOHNNY BLAZE!! Johnny Blaze has the perfect life: a wife and two kids, a job at an auto repair shop, and a small-town community that supports him… But Johnny isn’t doing well. He has nightmares of monsters when he sleeps. And he sees bloody visions when he’s awake. This life is beginning to feel like a prison. And there’s a spirit in him that’s begging to break out! Benjamin Percy (Wolverine, X-Force) and Cory Smith (Conan the Barbarian, Captain Marvel) are going back to basics with the Spirit of Vengeance in...

Raf’s Action-Packed Comics for 2.16.2022

Good morning and Happy New Comic Day, CNJ readers! I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine’s Day this week, and that if you watched the Super Bowl you were satisfied. I’m a Browns fan, and I showed up to my friend’s party wearing my Peyton Hillis jersey. While I was casually rooting for the Bengals and Joe Burrow, I also wasn’t heartbroken by the result. I’m just happy I don’t have to hear “Who Dey” for the next year. But enough sports! It’s Marvel’s week this week, with plenty of great new issues, and a new #1 introducing a brand-new character in a legacy role. You’re not going to want to miss out on what the House of Ideas has going on this week. Let’s check it out. Marvel Comics First off is the first book I read as soon as I could this week, it’s King Conan #3! Writer Jason Aaron really captures the tone of the character in a way only rivaled by the original Robert E. Howard himself. Aaron is a lifelong Conan fan and it truly...

Raf’s Valentine’s Day Comics 2.9.2022

Raf’s Valentine’s Day Comics 2.9.2022

Howdy there, CNJ Shoppers. Well, a little sunshine goes a long way, we’re feeling pretty good this week at the shop. This week isn’t a huge week for new comics, not a whole lot of #1’s like there has been for the past few weeks, but we’ve still got a lot of great stuff worth checking out. Let’s jump into it. Marvel Comics It’s the big winter event book for Marvel this year, and this week keeps up the action with Devil’s Reign #4. Kingpin’s war on the vigilantes of New York is heating up and beginning to boil over as we move past the halfway point of the miniseries. And Moon Knight is just as crazed as ever. If you’re behind on the series, we’ll be getting second prints of issues #1 and #2 later this month, and we’ve got first prints of #3 still in the shop for now. GET ON IT. Last year, fans and X-heads had the chance to vote for the newest member of the main X-Men team, but what about the mutants who didn’t...

Raf’s Icy Featured New Releases 2.2.2022

Raf’s Icy Featured New Releases 2.2.2022

Good morning and Happy New Comic Book Day, everyone! It’s the start of a new month and we’ve got a lot of things coming into the shop this week (including lots of ice and snow apparently to Northeast Ohio. :/). But hey, we can’t control that! Luckily, it’s Cleveland, so the weather can turn around quickly, and hopefully we’ll see a 40-degree day soon to break us out of this winter chill. In case we all get iced/snowed in later this week, be sure to stop by and grab some reading material to keep yourself company. We’ve got a few great trade collections into the shop, as well as some new #1’s and new issues for hit series also. Letssss go. Marvel Comics At the end of 2021, Hawkeye was the talk of the shop because the new Disney+ series had just dropped. And now hot off the trailer premiere just a couple of weeks ago, the Moon Knight hype is starting to ramp up and we’ve had a lot of people coming in looking for MK books. It’s been...

The Return of Saga at Carol and John’s 1.26.2022

The Return of Saga at Carol and John’s 1.26.2022

Hello, Carol and John’s Comic Shoppers! Sorry for the delay in delivering your weekly news but here is what we have for you this week… so, Happy New Comic Book Day. Or more importantly, Happy Saga Day!! After a hiatus of nearly 3 years, Saga is back this week with a new issue. We couldn’t be more excited here at the shop, and it was the first thing we did as soon as we got our Diamond shipment this week. We’ve got plenty of swag here at the shop too to commemorate the moment, including pins, stickers, and temporary tattoos (while they last). And I’ve got my Saga shirt on today, because of course I’ve got to rep Cleveland native Brian K. Vaughan and the best book out now, period. While today’s big book is definitely the return of Saga, we’ve got a few other great books in the shop this week. Let’s see what else you should get. DC Comics John Paul Leon has been one of the most influential artists of the past quarter-century, and we were excited...
