Local Comic Shop Day and New Releases at CNJComics

Local Comic Shop Day and New Releases at CNJComics

Wow. Lots of great stuff coming out and going on this week and beyond! Fun new releases, Local Comic Shop Day on Saturday, and a primer from Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. NEW RELEASES First up, here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, November 14th, 2018! Have the X-Men titles been overwhelming you lately, even when you consider yourself a fairly knowledgeable fan? Well this week is for you, as Uncanny X-Men will be the only X title for the next ten weeks, coming out weekly and starting with issue #1. Being dubbed “X-Men Disassembled”, the X-Men will be deconstructed and maybe put back together again. Great hop on point, and written by all three X-writers, Ed Brisson, Kelly Thompson, Matthew Rosenberg! Lots of cool covers too, so be ready to pick one out. Be warned, it’s 72 pages and $7.99. (but that’s not a bad thing.) Somehow in the world of Marvel math, Avengers #10 is the 700th issue of the Avengers, and they’re celebrating with an over-sized issue. Jason Aaron’s run is worth taking note...

Black Friday and Small Business Saturday Weekend at CNJComics

Black Friday and Small Business Saturday Weekend at CNJComics

Mark your calendar for our longest running event, out (anti) Black Friday sale from 7 pm to midnight on Friday, November 23rd! ANTI-BLACK FRIDAY SALE Why is it an ANTI-Black Friday sale? Because we let our employees stay home with their families on Thanksgiving and we don’t have our event till 7 pm on Friday Night, so all our friends working that day can come in when they get off of a grueling day at work. It’s also a really fun social hang out, and a tradition for a lot of customers. It’s more about enjoying the hobby than a mad consumer war. It’s our biggest sale of the year too, one of only two times that we are able to bring all the comics out of our storage locker and sell that at only $1.00 each. (50 cents each if you buy 100 or more!) This year we’ve built up and incredible inventory, so we will have books in the foyer and the back room. Lot’s of books have never been seen before, and there’s about 75,000 total. They...

Halloween ComicFest 2018 Photos

We just wanted to say thanks to everyone for making this our busiest Halloween ComicFest ever! Here’s a link to the full gallery of pictures on Facebook!! If anyone needs a high resolution copy of one of the photos just let us know and we’ll email one to you. Facebook reduces picture quality to the point that they can’t be printed out.  FILE CUSTOMERS File Customers! If you haven’t been in for awhile it’s time to come in and pick up your file before we start the holiday season. We have benchmarks for when the files are being allowed to stack up to much and I’ve been informed that we are currently there.  If you’ve come in recently – thank you, thank you, thank you! If not, it’s time! If you’re looking for that extra push to stop up, this is it. It’s actually a really small new comic book week so that helps a bit.  To quote from our neighbors down south in Columbus at Packrat Comics: Thank you for helping us with this! We hate closing files and when...

Halloween ComicFest 2018 at CNJComics 10-27-2018 (UPDATE)

Halloween ComicFest 2018 at CNJComics 10-27-2018 (UPDATE)

Winston’s got his Halloween sweater on, so that can only mean we’re only days away from this years Halloween ComicFest 2018!   The new Pop Fun Box is ready for Saturday! Taller! Bigger! There’s artwork on all sides! The box was actually too big to fit in my cargo van and I had to UHaul it to the shop.  The Box will be in the foyer all day long to take pictures in, from 10 am to 7 pm. We will have a photographer taking pictures from 10 am to 3 pm. These pictures will be put up on Facebook before Halloween. You are also welcome to take your own pictures or have our photographer take another picture with your camera/phone. Feel free to work to get the angle you want, especially with artwork on all sides! Please be careful getting in and out of the box! Parents help the kiddos! Seconds after taking this picture my daughter tripped over the front and damaged it, and I had to replace it. Whomp Whomp.  I printed out an extra front in...

Walking Dead Day and New Releases at CNJComics

Walking Dead Day and New Releases at CNJComics

We’re getting ready for another Halloween Comicfest, this Saturday is Walking Dead Day, but first we’ve gotta get through the featured new releases for Wednesday, October 10th, 2018! MARVEL Spider-Geddon is here, and with a lot of covers too! Dan Slott brought all the Spiders together in Spider-Verse, and now he’s teaming up with Christopher Gage to tear them all down. Expect some new spiders in this five issue mini series. If you haven’t seen the ‘Into the Spider-Verse’ trailer yet, it’s one of the most exciting looking things out there right now. Mixed reviews on Venom, but I can tell you one thing, the comics by Donny Cates are great! A new storyline starts this week in Venom #7, “The Abyss!” Ah heck, let’s watch it one more time. It’s very 90’s, which is appropriate. DC COMICS DC continues it’s foil variants for the month of October this week. It looks like they toned down the color pallet to give them all a uniform look. Metallic, I’d say. This week’s include: Catwoman #4 Detective #990 Flash #56 Hawkman #5...

Featured New Releases for 9-26-2018

Featured New Releases for 9-26-2018

Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, September 26th, 2018! The first book is a big one that we’ve been waiting a while for. Heroes in Crisis #1, the new seven issue mini series that deals with Post Traumatic Stress in the DC Universe.  Written by Tom King, and telling the story of Sanctuary, the mental crisis center Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman set up together for heroes dealing with PTSD. Staffed occasionally by Booster Gold and Harley Quinn, this is the perfect subject for the writer of Omega Men, Mister Miracle and Batman.  We also wanted to give another shout out to Doomsday Clock, with issue #7 coming out. This has been a great read, merging the DC and Watchmen universes. Great cover this week too. I’ve been waiting 30 years for that punch.  Spider-Geddon sort of starts this week, this a #0 issue featuring the first appearance of the Spider-Man from the new Playstation game.  The fourth issue of Edge of Spider-Geddon also features the first appearance a world where Norman Osborn became Spider-Man instead of...
