Hi there, Comic Shop Friends! Thanks, everyone, for coming to our Winston World Sale last weekend! Winston enjoyed sleeping through most of it, and we hope you enjoyed shopping it. It’s only about five weeks until Free Comic Book Day! The first Saturday in May! We have an employee meeting coming up to discuss our plans this year, so we should have news for you soon, but mark your calendars for Saturday, May 6th! April’s Late Nite Comics will be on Thursday, April 20th, and we’ll have a guest! Chad Bilyeu, the creator of Chad in Amsterdam and The Re-Up comics will be setting up a table and selling his books that night. Now, onto this week’s books! MARVEL COMICS Venom co-creator David Michelinie teams up with artist Farid Karami for a brand-new story set in Venom’s past, taking Eddie Brock from the streets of New York to the kingdom of Latveria. It’s Venom versus Doom, with run-ins with Silver Sable, Vanguard agents, and possible new sidekick, Pablo Mendez (Kid Venom?)! Ben Grimm teams up with heroes from across the...

Andrea’s Strange Picks for 03.22.2023

Hi Comic Shop Friends! Happy Spring! And Happy Winston World Weekend! This Friday through Sunday is Winston World, a three-day long sale to coincide with Fan Expo Cleveland going on from March 24 – 26th! (It used to be Wizard World.) We’ll be offering 50% off ALL back issues, as well as 10% off EVERYTHING else in the shop. We like to give a reason for out of town visitors to stop by the shop while they’re here. (We also need another reason to feed Winston’s ego.) Also, here’s the link to buy tickets for the Cleveland Fan Expo: MARVEL COMICS Reprinting Avengers #9, this Marvel facsimile presents the introduction of Wonder Man! Before he was an Avenger and Hollywood action star, Simon Williams was a brilliant inventor turned dangerous foe, with his ionic powers making him strong enough to go toe to toe with the Avengers! Stephen Strange is back, and Jed MacKay and Pasqual Ferry begin a new chapter in Doctor Strange’s life. Demons have your soul? Dragons, elves, trolls, and whatnot in your city? Haunted garbage monster?...

Andrea’s Clear Picks for 03.08.2023

Andrea’s Clear Picks for 03.08.2023

Hello Comic Shop Friends! It’s a smaller week for new comics, but we’ve got some March news to get to! The biggest thing first: We have a YouTube channel! We’ll post our Tuesday night Facebook Live videos each week after we’re finished streaming. So if you don’t use Facebook, you can keep up with what’s new every week! We won’t be checking YouTube video comments promptly, so the best way to request anything off the table is: Watch the Facebook Live video and comment there. Email the shop at info@cnjcomics.com with your requests. Call the shop at 216-252-0606. Here’s the link to our channel! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCc6qIPM0SqNuNbJ3WeCXPug And even if you do watch us on Facebook, subscribe to our YouTube as well, as we may put up other videos. (And if you want to watch videos from over eight years ago. Clearly, we did not utilize YouTube.) On Sunday, March 12th, from 10 am to 4 pm, John will be set up at the Jeff Harper Show in Westlake. Stop out, visit his table, and say hi to Zoe since she’ll be...

Andrea’s Phantom Picks for 03.01.2023

Andrea’s Phantom Picks for 03.01.2023

Hi there Comic Shop Friends! We’re back from ComicsPro, full of information and ideas! We’re working on plans for Free Comic Book Day, too, inspired by the event, which you’ll hear more about in the future. We also had some ideas for the Short Box King so that he will be making another appearance soon . . . Here’s the CNJ team with event organizer Marco (in the middle) with a couple of his behind-the-scenes team, taken at the charity auction. The highlights for me were the Cartoonist Kayfabe roundtable, and Kyle and I being teamed with friends of the shop from Books with Pictures in Portland, OR, and Laughing Ogre in Columbus, OH. I came back tired and inspired! And now that we’re caught up on sleep, we’re ready for this week’s new releases! MARVEL COMICS This limited series is set in different eras of Tony Stark’s life, celebrating the 60th anniversary of Iron Man. Writer Murewa Ayodele and artist Botun Akande tell a new story in each issue with Kaiju battles, alien invasions, rescue missions, and more. This...

Andrea’s Nameless Picks for 02.22.2023

Hello, Comic Shop Friends! Not much news this week as we’re getting prepared for our trip to Pittsburgh for Comics Pro, but it’s a big week of books, and the table is packed! We, of course, are always putting out new back issues, so look at those when you stop in too! MARVEL COMICS Another Sins of Sinister tie-in starts this week! Immoral X-Men begins with the Quiet Council of Sinisters not interested in following Sinisters’ orders anymore, and now have their own agenda for the world. And the galaxy. They were written by Kieron Gillen, with art by Paco Medina. Betsy Braddock is questless and country-less. Britain doesn’t want a mutant menace carrying the shield of Captain Britain, and she doesn’t even wear the flag. When a Fury ends up on Earth-99476, and Britannica Rex summons the Captain Britain Corps, a new threat shows up to end all Captains Britain! Writer Tini Howard and artist Vasco Georgiev have a fresh take on the character and the Braddock family. Frank Castle makes his debut in Amazing Spider-Man #129, as Spider-Man...
