New Releases for 2-19-2020 at CNJComics

Just a quick email this week as I’m on the road at the ComicsPro meeting in Portland Oregon! First up, Wolverine is back in his own ongoing series! With the Mutant Island established what does Wolverine do when he’s….happy? Art by Adam Kubert and featuring the return of Omega Red. This week we had some speculator issues.  We’re happy to say that everyone who has it on their file will get a copy of Batman #89, and at cover price too. It’s going for $30-$40 dollars online and features the first appearance of Punchline, the Joker’s new sidekick. (So essentially the new Harley.) We have no copies hitting the table as they have been scooped up with preorders. Second prints are on the way. To be clear, we will never charge you more for a (non ratio) new comic. Valentine’s Day at CNJComics

It’s Valentine’s Day at CNJComics, and every year we put some valentine’s in a bowl and let you pull one out when you check out. These can contain extra discounts, free graphic novels, all kinds of sweet stuff. Stop by on the 14th and see what you get! And remember… This week in celebration of the release of Harley Quinn (and whatever they’re calling it now) we thought we’d featured female lead characters in our new releases! (It goes withour saying that we carry a full compliment of Harley Quinn Graphic Novels, Comics and Action Figure. One to grow one.) First up, appropriately enough, is the new Black Label Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey #1! The big news is this four issue mini series and written and drawn by Amanda Conner! Upcoming Events at CNJComics

This week we’ve decided to give you a run down on the upcoming events that we’ll be involved in over the next few months! Book Club! February starts off with our Doomsday Clock / Watchmen TV Series Book Club this Thursday from 8 pm to 9:30 pm! Hosted by Valentino Luca Zullo and our own Rafael Calzada, we’ll be covering the Watchmen sequels both in print and on tv. (We may even talk about how Alan Moore feels about it all.) If you’d like a really great recap of the shows after you’ve watched them, ScreenCrush’s videos really helped me see alot of stuff I never knew was there. Valentine’s Day Friday, February 14th is obviously Valentine’s Day, and no matter where you are relationship wise, you can always stop in the shop and get a little love from us. Marvel Superheroes Reach “The End”

The first month of 2020 went like a Flash! Here’s the featured new releases for the final week of January! Marvel’s “End” Marvel has been making a series of one shots chronicling the final days of their heroes and heroines. This week we’ve got books for Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel and Deadpool! It’s also a really big week for X-titles, with new issues of X-Men, Fallen Angels, New Mutants, and X-Force. We’ll also be getting in reprints of alot of X-titles that we’ve sold out of. If you were a fan of the original Old Man Logan, this week’s Avengers of the Wasteland #1 shows the lives of the heroes living out in the, well, the Wasteland. Luke Cage’s daughter is the new Thor! Wonder Woman #750 and GOTG at CNJComics

Alright! It’s another great week again! Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, January 22nd, 2020! The lead book for the week in the 96 page Wonder Woman #750, in the tradition of Action #1000 and Detective #1000! Featuring all new stories and the return of some classic Wonder Woman writers like Greg Rucka and Gail Simone! We’ll be getting all the decades variants too, so you can pick out the cover you like the most. (The above is the 1950’s cover by Jenny Frison.) Others include… 1960’s by J. Scott Campbell (I love it) 1980’s by George Perez and many more! Again 96 pages for $9.99! Next in line is Al Ewing’s new Guardians of the Galaxy #1. Yes, the writer behind the incredibly successful Immortal Hulk will be taking over as writer of GOTG! We’ve got a few guilty pleasures in here as well. New Action Figure Collection at CNJComics

It was another small new comic week at the shop, but we’ve still got some fun stuff going on. (Next week will be a full week again, we promise!)   Last week we mentioned that we put out a bunch of Marvel and DC long boxes for $1.00, all from the past couple of years. This week we added nine boxes of small press stuff as well! You can pick up runs on some really great titles on the cheap, like… We bought a big collection of out of print Marvel Selects and old school Marvel Legends. They’re all priced and out for sale. Zoe actually came in and helped with the purchase! We also liquidated our pub glasses, shot glasses, bottle openers and playing card decks. All pub glasses are $3 each and everything else is only $1. This frees our glass cases up to hold more Marvel and DC PVC Gallery Statues. Which in turn frees up our shelves to hold more key back issues. Ever forward.
