It’s a small new comic week so we thought we’d give you the heads up on our next book club on Thursday, February 6th at 8 pm. After much success with our House / Powers of X book club last year, we have decided to make these things quarterly. While looking for subjects we decided upon some of the current Watchman sequels, and we’ll be examining both Doomsday Clock and Watchman the TV series. The Book club will be run by Valentino Luca Zullo, as well as one of our newest employees Raphael. I’ll be floating around in the background with color commentary from time to time. The first six issues of Doomsday Clock have been collected into a hardcover volume that we have at the shop. Issues #7 – #12 you’ll have to pick up individually, also at the shop. Welcome to 2020! New Releases – Marvel Here’s the featured new releases for Wednesday, January 1st, 2020! (yes, we are open on January 1st for new comic book day.) Marvel starts out the year with two big books, Star Wars #1 and Thor #1! Up until now, the modern Marvel Star Wars comics have all been post ‘A New Hope.’ Starting with this new number one, Charles Soule takes us into the world after Empire Strikes Back! We have a lithograph to go with each purchase of the book. We also have a special New Year’s treat. We recently had an opportunity to buy up liquidated copies of one of the staff’s favorite Star Wars stories, Vader Down! Jason Aaron And Kieron Gillen pit Vader on his own against the entire rebel fleet. This book really showed what a bad-ass Vader was. This book regularly sells for $19.99 but we’ll be selling them for only $4.00! That’s a full graphic novel for less than the cost of a comic book. (Start your year off with a great story!) First off, we’d like to thank everyone who helped out with the food drive this year. With your help, we were able to assist the Cleveland Food Bank in creating 14,276 meals for those in need this holiday season! This is a record for this event and gets our lifetime total up to 77,644! Whoa! We were also able to collect 1,399 food items this year! Thanks to the Fitch family for getting the food where it needed to go after the event! This gets us up to a lifetime total of 8,347 food items! Thanks to all the artists who dedicated their hard work and talent, the art looked great up there this year.  118 pieces, also an all-time record! (119 if you count a late submission by my daughter Zoe.) We will have an online art gallery up soon with links to all the artists URL’s and contact info!
