Featured New Releases for 9-6-2017

Generations continues, Venomverse begins, the countdown to the Last Jedi starts, Bombshells begins anew and some pretty swell Omnibuses dot this weeks new release landscape.  Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, September 6th, 2017.  FEATURED RELEASES We’ve got another month of Generations One Shots until Legacy #1 on September 27th. This week’s team up is classic Iron Man (hopefully drunk, but I think Riri has already experienced that) with Iron Heart by Brian Bendis. It looks like Infamous Iron Man (which I really like, being a Doom fan and all) and Invincible Iron Man will combine after the events of Legacy #1, as we’ll find out who really gets to carry the mantle.  FEATURED RELEASESIf there’s one thing people can never get enough of it’s Venom and Thanos. Marvel gets it right when they pull these dream ideas out of our childhood, like a Hulk/Wolverine hybrid, or in this case a rag tag team of Venomized superheroes led by the original Venom.  This five issue mini will also be supplemented by Venomverse War Stories, with this week’s issue featured...

Dark Nights Metal and Solar Eclipse

Dark Nights Metal and Solar Eclipse

Dark Nights Metal is finally here! We’ve read it and it’s everything we hoped and more. After an incredible journey on Batman, Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo have teamed up on a six issue mini series featuring the Justice League with Batman taking center stage. The book hints at classic DC History, Grant Morrison’s Multiverse, Vertigo Comics as well as Snyder and Capullo’s own Batman run. DARK NIGHTS METAL The journey will take months and there’s many routes to go. We always recommend just the core six issue title, then just follow the paths that interest you. Here’s a checklist you can print out and return to us at the shop. Here’s a good article laying out the checklist with more detail.  The Batman one shots will feature evil incarnations of Batman/Justice League member hybrids! Evil Flash/Batman! Evil Aquaman/Batman! This is a great way to get excited about the new Justice League movie as well!   We highly recommend checking out the first issue! The big two can do all the marketing they want but it all comes down to...

Marvel Generations / Jack Kirby Influences at CNJComics 8-2-2017

Marvel Generations begins this week, and we start to see the influences of Jack Kirby on the eve of his 100th birthday. Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, August 2nd, 2017. Over the next two months Marvel will be releasing ten one shots meant to establish the connection between the old and new generations of their characters. This all begins this week with Generations The Strongest: Totally Awesome Hulk and Banner Hulk! Each book will have a hand picked writer who’s appropriate for the team up, and this week’s is World War Hulk’s Greg Pak. Each story is stand alone with elements that will bleed over into the new Marvel Legacy. Here’s a check list for the upcoming books. You can just print it out and turn it in at the shop, or email us with the books you would like added to your file! August 28th will be Jack Kirby’s 100th birthday, and we can’t think of a more important event in comic book history. Without Jack, none of this would have happened. There’s even a...

Not-At-Comicon Summer Sale at CNJComics 7-20 through 7-23

Not-At-Comicon Summer Sale at CNJComics 7-20 through 7-23

It’s time for one of our largest sales of the year, our annual ‘NOT-AT-COMICON’ Sale, timed to coincide with San Diego Comicon! (Just like we are.) This is one of two times in the year that we are able to pull all the comics out of our storage locker and back room and put them in the foyer for only $1.00 each. This includes unprocessed collections we have bought, including the remainder of York Comics inventory when they closed. It amounts to about 60,000 books toal at this point. To make things even better, this year when you buy books in increments of 100, the books are only 50 cents each. I.E. 100 books $50  105 books $55 dollars  200 books $100    220 books $120   etc… You have to buy in increments of 100 to get the bigger discount. (We figured this was way better than having to fill up an entire box to get a better rate.) We’ll also have 50% off all back issues in the shop. (Back issues means bagged and in the back issue bins.) This...
