New Comic Releases for 1-20-2016

Welcome to the recommended new releases for the week of January 20th, 2016! INDY BOOKS We’ll start off with a couple indie releases, just to mix things up. We’ve decided to carry all titles from the new publisher Aftershock, mostly due to their intense creator list as well as some impressive first issues. This week is the release of Brian Azzarello’s American Monster #1. “In a small Midwestern town, a large man with a horribly scarred face gets off a bus, and takes a room. He spooks the locals–nobody knows him–or do they? It’s impossible to say be-cause he seemingly has no face. The man’s intentions remain unknown, until he takes on a corrupt sheriff and the rural crew of racist arms dealers. The town’s impression of the man changes, and he’s seen as a hero…until his real intentions bubble to the surface. The man isn’t there to end the gang, but to take it over. And he’s just getting started.”

We’re back for week two of 2016. Lots of big titles are coming out, like All New All Different Avengers #3, Mighty Thor #3, All New X-Men #3 and Guardians of the Galaxy #4. However we find the fun is in the details, and this week has plenty of interesting smaller projects as well. Here’s the offbeat featured selections for January 13th, 2016. DC UNIVERSE Batman Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 was a bigger hit than we figured it would be and issue two is out this week. We’re hoping to get an initial clash between our heroes, while Shredder make an alliance with the Penguin. This is a six issue mini series.

Welcome to a brand new year at CNJComics! We’ll be guiding you through the world of pop culture, while acting as a filter for the endless amount of product that comes out. But as always, like what you like! There is no right and wrong and we learn as much about people from what they don’t like as we do with what they enjoy. Welcome to 2016! DEADPOOL The Deadpool movie is a little over a month away, and Marvel is releasing a considerable amount of accessible product in the lead up. Due out February 12th and I really like the new trailer, check it out here! (like you haven’t already! You’ll have to dig around online for the red band trailer.) This week we’ve got Spider-Man Deadpool #1, a new ongoing title by the dream team of Joe Kelly and Ed McGuinness. Joe Kelly is basically the guy who made Deadpool into the character we know today, breaking the fourth wall and interacting with the audience. McGuinness is known for his big action fight scenes. (Kelly wrote my favorite...
