Stock up on Action Figures for Easter

It’s too late for mail order! The big boxes stores look like they’ve been ransacked by “Sand People”! (suspiciously accurate blaster marks.) Where can I possibly find an outstanding selection of superhero action figures this late in the game? Carol and John’s Comic Book Shop to the rescue! We’ve been stocking up for months and have noticed our efforts paying off, as we’ve quickly become not only a destination for comic books, but one for action figures as well. (What better way to fill up all that empty space in an Easter Basket?) We can break our action figure inventory down into six categories. Pop Fun’s! We specialize in Pop Fun’s that have a comic book related theme to them. (though we break that rule every so often.) Reasonably priced at $10.99 each, a bit more for over sized. This past week saw the releases of Avengers 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy series 2.

Convergence and New Comic Releases for 4-1-2015

Get ready for the biggest new comic book day so far this year, including lots of books to get you ready for Avengers 2, along with action figures galore, and DC’s Convergence. Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, April 1st, 2015. We have to start out with the big news, “Every story matters” again with DC’s Convergence #0. DC Convergence is a nine part weekly mini series stretching across the months of April and May that will lead into 40 new two issue mini series set in different DC timelines. While the New 52 isn’t over, we’re not stuck there anymore.

New Comic Releases for the week of 3-25-2015

We’ve got a few fun story lines going on that you can jump into this week, along with some reprints, variants and a cool all ages indie. Here’s a look at the featured new comic releases coming out Wednesday, March 25th, 2015.  The Guardians of the Galaxy and the X-Men are in the middle of a three month long 13 part storyline called “Black Vortex”. It’s been old school comic book fun, fleshing out the relationship between X-Man Kitty Pryde and the Guardian’s Peter Quill (Starlord). Three Chapters come out this week, along with a couple reprints of earlier chapters, so it’s a good time to catch up. Here’s a checklist with release dates: The Black Vortex Alpha #1. DC Convergence is Coming at CNJComics

Here is your definitive guide to DC Comics Convergence, two months worth of comic stories in April and May where “Every Story Matters.” Prepare to see the return of all the characters you love in the settings that you love them in. While DC is not completely abandoning the New 52 Universe, we’re finally getting back what we’ve wanted, mixed up continuity that you can’t always explain, but has always provided us with the most enjoyable stories. I’ve attached quite a few links to people who are explaining it better than me, and while it seems overwhelming, once you understand the structure of this event it’s quite easy. We’ve decided to have a little fun with this week’s new releases, by linking each one to a video or trailer to show you just how connected the world of comics is to the media that you are watching today. New Comic Releases for the Week of 3-4-2015

It’s a Marvel kind of week, with some other cool stuff added in, and even a call back to a series you should be reading. Let’s check out the new comic releases for the week of Wednesday March 4th, 2015. First up, Marvel’s going to strike gold again with Princess Leia #1. This is a five issue mini series written by Mark Waid with art by Terry Dodson. (really, the perfect team for this book.) Focusing on the ‘princess without a world’ aspect of her personality and set after A Hew Hope, just like the Star Wars and Darth Vader series. All the Star Wars titles are top notch and have the staff’s full recommendation.
