Walking Dead Day and New Releases at CNJComics

We’re getting ready for another Halloween Comicfest, this Saturday is Walking Dead Day, but first we’ve gotta get through the featured new releases for Wednesday, October 10th, 2018!

MARVEL

Spider-Geddon is here, and with a lot of covers too!

Dan Slott brought all the Spiders together in Spider-Verse, and now he’s teaming up with Christopher Gage to tear them all down. Expect some new spiders in this five issue mini series.

If you haven’t seen the ‘Into the Spider-Verse’ trailer yet, it’s one of the most exciting looking things out there right now.

Mixed reviews on Venom, but I can tell you one thing, the comics by Donny Cates are great! A new storyline starts this week in Venom #7, “The Abyss!”

Ah heck, let’s watch it one more time. It’s very 90’s, which is appropriate.

DC COMICS

DC continues it’s foil variants for the month of October this week. It looks like they toned down the color pallet to give them all a uniform look. Metallic, I’d say. This week’s include:

  • Catwoman #4
  • Detective #990
  • Flash #56
  • Hawkman #5
  • Red Hood and the Outlaws #27
  • Suicide Squad #47
  • Superman #4
  • Titans #27
  • Wonder Woman #56
  • and this standout cover on Supergirl #23 by Stanley Lau.

The whole staff are huge fans of the crime noir work of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips. Together these two have created SLEEPER, CRIMINAL, KILL OR BE KILLED, THE FADE OUT, FATALE, and INCOGNITO. This week they release their first original hardcover, My Heroes Have Always Been Junkies. We went long on this $16.99 book, and even signed up to get autographed book plates for everyone who buys one.

“Teenage Ellie has always had romantic ideas about drug addicts. The tragic, artistic souls drawn to needles and pills have been an obsession since the death of her junkie mother ten years ago. But when Ellie lands in an upscale rehab clinic where nothing is what it appears to be, she’ll find another, more dangerous romance… and find out how easily drugs and murder go hand-in-hand.”

Oh hey, stop in this week, ask at the counter and we’ll give you a free copy of the new DC Essentials Graphic Novel Guide. We’ve got lots, so don’t be shy about asking. It’s a great tool to help you expand your library.

WALKING DEAD and HALLOWEEN COMICFEST

As we mentioned, Saturday the 13th is “The Walking Dead Day” nationally, which means we have a free book to give away that contains four short stories featuring Michonne, The Governor, Morgan and Tyrese. (Isn’t this a previous year’s FCBD book with an additional story?)

Anyway, they are also releasing 15 different important classic issues in blind bags featuring new cover art. According to Skybound: “You might find a colored version of the art, a sketch version, a virgin version (with no title) or something else entirely.”

(Didn’t DC do this a few years back for Batman Vs Superman?)

We’ll also have a new reprint of #1 with a cover by Charlie Adlard (To piss of Tony Moore I guess) We’ll also have other giveaways like masks and buttons while supplies last.

Here’s all the info from Skybound with links to even more info!

Blind Bags are always fun, and if we have any left over, you’ll be able to buy them at this year’s HALLOWEEN COMICFEST 2018 on Saturday, October 27th! (was that a lazy segway? It kind of was.)

Halloween ComicFest is always awesome, and this year we’ve got lots of FREE books for you.

Here’s all the books that will be available…

When you come by in costume, you can take one of everything that interests you. We know some people don’t like to dress up, so those people can pick three.

Cool stuff like this Thor Comic!

We will also have Laura Wimbels taking pictures of people in costume from 10am to 3pm in our new, larger, Pop Fun Box 2.0!

I promise, I’ll have it built by then, and it will fit multiple people this time! Labor of love!

We’ll also have candy, and hopefully a T-rex skeleton if the wife lets me borrow it from our front lawn.

Expect a full email on that coming soon!

Whew, big email this week. (Because it is a pretty big week!)

See you soon!
