Happy Free Comic Book Day! If you’re reading this on Wednesday, we’re only three days away from FCBD 2026!

This Saturday, May 2nd! FCBD kicks off at 10am! It’s our 25th year of Free Comic Book Day!

We have over forty titles to give out, and you can choose twelve from that. They’ll be sorted by All Ages, Teen, and Adult on the tables, so you can pick what’s appropriate.

Check out the available titles here: https://www.freecomicbookday.com/comics and here: https://prhcomics.com/2025/12/16/comicsgiveawayday2026/

We’ll have the FCBD posters to give away while supplies last, so you have something to get signed by Dave Michelinie! The first 200 people in line will receive a free copy of the Venom Lethal Protector: Heart of the Hunted graphic novel written by our guest of honor David Michelinie!

Michelinie will be signing one item for free from 10am to 6pm! If you’d like more than one signature, they are $10 each and that gets donated to David’s local cat charity, Purring Pals!

Make sure to check out all the local artists and creators in the FCBD room too! Artists include Ryan Drost, Perris McKay, Zach and Erik Nelson, Sleepy Robot 13, CHOD Artist, Quill Kolat, Ashley Ribblett, Rick Sans and Sergio Andujar, Nerdy Magpie Curiosities, ReGeeked, Cory Holliday, Marc Sumerak, Tess Anderson, Miguel C Hernandez, Genghis Con Cle, and of course Luna Dudas. Erin Caruso will also be set up outside with the Rust Belt Monsters. Support your local art and comic scene!

Sam, aka Sonny Boy Comics, will be here all day filming and vlogging during the event! Say hi to him and his partner Maddie, and follow him on Instagram and YouTube: @sonnyboycomics

There will be cosplayers, photo ops, and a Cleveland Fire Department smoke truck! John’s been posting updates on Facebook, so check that out, and John will be sending out his own email with all the last minute updates and details!

And one last important thing for Free Comic Book Day! All back issues will be 50% off all day in the shop! Try to throw a little money our way if it’s in your budget! We’ve stocked up on the DC Absolute Universe graphic novels and Marvel and DC Compact Editions, so treat yourself to a new story! Buy that thing you’ve been thinking about! It’s the perfect day to check out some new comics!

And a final reminder that the VIP Q&A with David Michelinie is this Thursday the 30th! Doors are at 6pm, Q&A starts at 6:30pm, and tickets are sold out!

It’s a fifth Wednesday for April, so we have a smaller week of new books, but here’s the highlights!

MARVEL COMICS

Doom 2099 is the last man alive in a world destroyed by his hubris. Using his powers as Sorcerer Supreme, past Doom wiped out every hero, villain, and civilian on Earth. Now he rules over Doombots modeled in the image of the very people he annihilated, living with regret. His last chance to undo his past wrongs lies with the newly found head of Ultron. Will Doom’s failsafes be enough to control the dangerously powerful intelligence? Doom’s path to redemption may demand a higher price than he ever anticipated in this one-shot from writer Frank Tieri and artist Von Randal.

DC COMICS

Batman and Wonder Woman team-up for a classic caper when the Lasso of Truth is stolen! On display in Gotham, protected by Wayne Tech security, Diana has been assured the Lasso is safe. But multiple parties have their eyes on it, each with their own reasons for learning the truth. Jeph Loeb and Jim Cheung throw Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and the Joker at the Caped Crusader and the Amazon Princess in a one-shot story set in the world of Batman: Hush!

The most famous unpublished DC comic of all time! Over three decades later, Rick Veitch’s legendary lost issues of Swamp Thing are completed, after his two-year run was cut short. Now his final four issues are presented with 1989 accurate ads, with art by Michael Zulli and Vince Locke. As Swamp Thing is cast back through time, he will come to meet a carpenter who will change the trajectory of his life, and of the DC Universe! Plus, the origin of Etrigan!

Zatanna finally gets her own ongoing series! Writer and artist Jamal Campbell returns for an encore with the mistress of magic, as she takes it to the Next Level! There hasn’t been a Prime Magus in over a millennium, but now it is Zatanna’s sworn responsibility to oversee and guide the world of magic. The Greatest Tour starts here, with a visit to Llatiren Na Sio, the Verdant City of Elves, when a Plague Spirit possesses a young girl. Someone is watching Zatanna work, ready to strike if need be, but who are they, and why do they believe she’s a threat? What tricks and trials await Zatanna as she continues her tour across the magical realms?

SMALL PRESS COMICS

“It’s a new Tony Millionaire comic. That’s all I really need to say.” – Patton Oswalt

Bad Idea presents Tony Millionaire’s tale of an Odyssey of love! Bobby Dougherty has become sober after divine providence, and after a single glance at a radiant swan, he sets off with his friend Jimmy Skunk to win his new love. What follows is a perilous journey across distant lands in an epic quest to win the swan Lucia’s heart! “Here is a story about a monkey’s journey, an epic tome, a classical adventure concerning his metamorphosis from lowly drunkard to wised-up celestial, bowdlerized by true love.”, states the creator, a true Oddball’s Odyssey.

From longtime Robert Kirkman collaborator Lorenzo De Felici! Written and drawn by De Felici, Red Roots is a mysterious, violent, perhaps fantasy, series. As the creator states in his end letter, this is a story of uncertainty, a story with a “definitive answer slipping away from our grasp. An answer to what, exactly? That’s something you will discover reading.” Two separate stories unfold, one following a professional killer, one following a high school teacher who finds a disembodied head in her closet. What terrifying force binds them together?
