Raf’s Back from Vacation on 6.8.2022

Raf’s Back from Vacation on 6.8.2022

Hey there, Carol and John’s Shoppers! Raf here again, back from vacation in Nashville, Tennessee all last week. Did you know Nashville has a Batman building!?  Well, at least that’s how they advertise it. It was a cool city and I loved the live music. I didn’t get to explore the city as much as I’d have liked, but that just means I have to go back. As is typical after vacations, the first week back is a biggie with PLENTY of things to talk about new in the shop this week. Let’s jump back in.  DC Comics Header  “Crisis on Infinite Earths. Infinite Crisis. Final Crisis. And now… Dark Crisis! The epic event years in the making is finally here! Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the rest of the Justice League are dead. The remaining heroes are left to protect the world from an onslaught of violent attacks by DC’s greatest villains! Can the legacy heroes step out of the shadows of the classic heroes to form a new Justice League? And will that be enough to stop a...

Half Off Back Issues at CNJComics

Half Off Back Issues at CNJComics

Hey everyone! Rafael is on vacation and I’m filling in, and the best way I can imagine doing it is with half-off back issues for the weekend!  It’s an incredibly small new comic week so it seems appropriate. We have also bought a couple of new collections (finally) that will be going out on Tuesday, so it seems appropriate to clear the wall out as best we can beforehand. (keep an eye out on Facebook for our rerack video on Tuesday the 7th.) So…ALL BACK ISSUES WILL BE HALF OFF FROM FRIDAY JUNE 3RD TO MONDAY JUNE 6TH! This is the last time back issues will be half off until our big “Not at Comicon” sale from July 20th to the 24th, where we will bring thousands of comics out from our storage locker at only $1.00 each, as well as half off back issues as well. (so mark your calendar!) So, on another note, my trip to Washington DC went great, and I got to talk with Senator Sheron Brown’s Office with a dozen other small business representatives from Ohio. ...

Raf’s Birthday Picks for 5.25.2022

Raf’s Birthday Picks for 5.25.2022

[Self-editor’s note from last week. While talking about the new Savage Avengers series that launched, I mentioned that Conan the Barbarian and other heroes like Elektra Daredevil, Cloak and Dagger, and Black Knight were going back to Conan’s time, the Hyperborean Age. It’s actually the Hyborian Age. The Hyperborean Age is from Greek Mythology and is the far north. For all the Conan I’ve read, I clearly still haven’t read my Official Handbook of the Conan Universe, so forgive me for confusing the two. As the Conan guy at the shop, I feel pretty embarrassed about the mix-up.] [But anyway, we’ve got new comics this week!] Hey there, Carol and John’s Shoppers! Raf here and today is my birthday! You can figure out my age by this little anecdote: on my 21st birthday I wasn’t at a bar waiting to buy my first drink (it wouldn’t have been my first anyways), but rather I was at my local comic shop back home in PA at a midnight release for DC Universe: Rebirth #1. We’ve got a lot of great books...

Raf’s Savage Week of New Comics for 5.18.2022

Raf’s Savage Week of New Comics for 5.18.2022

Happy Wednesday, Carol and John’s Shoppers! With the weather heating up, so are the comics this spring. There are a few big entries from the Big Two, but there are a lot of diverse options for everyone, including some gems from small press companies this week also. Let’s see what’s up. Marvel Comics It’s part 2 to the current Banner of War crossover this week with Thor #25! “Banner’s newfound control of his rage is prolonging this fight more than Thor expected, and with Banner holding his own, Thor must get creative. Odin’s breakthrough look into Banner’s psyche seems to slow the violence, but will it be enough?” Plus, there’s more, with two separate backups in this jam-packed issue. Gerry Duggan’s Savage Avengers was a shop favorite amongst the staff here, and we were all bummed to hear it was ending this past January with issue #28. We were excited to hear it was relaunching with a new #1 though, and that time is now with new writer David Depose and artist Carlos Magno. During the previous Savage Avengers run,...

Raf’s Post-FCBD Week of New Comics for 5.11.2022

Raf’s Post-FCBD Week of New Comics for 5.11.2022

Hi there, Carol and John’s Shoppers, and welcome back! Free Comic Book Day 2022 has come and gone, but we’ve got another Wednesday and more great books to talk about. The weather is too nice this week here in Cleveland, so let’s not waste any time and just get into it. Marvel Comics Header “CAPTAIN AMERICA SOARS AGAIN! Sam Wilson picks up the shield once more — and enters a world of trouble! Following a lead from Misty Knight, Sam intercepts a mysterious group hijacking what appears to be an empty train. As he digs deeper, he discovers that the plot may be connected to a crucial piece of Captain America history… and, surprisingly, Wakanda. The world is ready for two Captain Americas — but is Sam Wilson ready for what comes next?” Spinning out of last month’s Captain America #0, both Captain America’s will be getting their own series, with Symbol of Truth being Sam Wilson’s action-packed adventure. Look for Steve Rogers in Sentinel of Liberty next month. To celebrate the 60th anniversaries of both Hulk and Thor, writer...

Free Comic Book Day Updates for CNJComics

Free Comic Book Day Updates for CNJComics

Free Comic Book Day is only a few days away! We’ve got some last-minute announcements (important stuff!) so be sure to read through the whole email! The big news is this: Shooter’s signatures will now be free. That’s right, forget what you’ve heard before. We found a way to prepay for everyone’s signatures and they’re on us. The only drag is that you’re now at a five-signature limit. We know this will bum some people out but it’s a best way to keep that line moving, which was our major complaint from Claremont’s visit. (If you are bummed out just think of all the money you saved.) Remember that we’ve got four hundred copies of Avengers #211 to give away for free, so everyone has something to sign. It looks like Shooter will have some prints to sell as well. Thanks to Jeff Ritchie for our photo backdrop! It was hand-drawn and there will be two hanging up for you to use. Luna has been working hard putting together our biggest play area ever! More big news! Back Issues will...
