Each year we do a recap email about Free Comic Book Day, easily our biggest event of the year. There’s quite a few reasons why: To provide links to photo albums and videos, because it’s awesome to find a cool photograph of yourself in there. To provide links to all the business and artists who helped us but the event together. Get a sketch from an artist and want to check out more of their work or set up a commissioned piece? Or want to know who made those cool litho’s or beer labels for us? We work with the same local people in Cleveland because they have proved themselves time and time again. To show you things you may not have seen or known was there so that next year you’re better prepared to take it all in. To make you jealous if you couldn’t come out so that you’ll plan early to be there next year, Saturday May 2nd, 2015!

Well, we’ve almost got everything back to normal after Free Comic Book Day. We hope everyone had fun and we’ll have a recap email coming soon! We consider it to be our most successful event ever on many different levels. But till then, here’s some cool new releases for the week of May 7th, 2014! Marvel’s big summer event is here with Original Sin #1! WHO SHOT THE WATCHER? The Watcher, the mysterious space-god who’s been watching us from the moon for as long as we can remember… is dead. Thus begins the greatest murder mystery in Marvel Comics history. As Nick Fury leads the heroes of the Marvel Universe in an investigation, other forces are marshaling as well and other questions are arising. Why is Black Panther gathering a secret team of his own, including Emma Frost, the Punisher and Dr. Strange? Who is the Unseen? What was the Original Sin? What was stolen from the Watcher’s lair? And most importantly, who now holds the Marvel Universe’s darkest secrets in the palm of their hand?

Free Comic Book Day is only 18 days away! We’ll share some of the preliminary information about the day with you, how you can help out and get ready, along with the usual list of weekly recommendations! So let’s get going… First up is the final issue of Superior Spider-Man, issue #31! Series finale! Peter Parker’s back! Green Goblin’s Unmasked! Paving the way for Amazing Spider-Man #1 which just happening to be the big book coming out for Free Comic Book Day! There’s also some snazzy cover price variants, including one by J Scott Campbell!

Captain America The Winter Soldier comes out this week, so we decided to do an email featuring new releases that link to some of Marvel’s hottest movie properties! Being around a comic shop always keeps you one step ahead of the mass media game. You’re thinking Captain America? We’re thinking Amazing Spider-Man 2 on May 2nd! You’re thinking Spider-Man? We’re thinking X-Men Days of Future Past on May 23rd! You’re thinking X-Men? We’re on Guardians of the Galaxy on August 1st!
