Andrea’s Picks for 11.01.2023

Hey there Comic Shop Friends! Hopefully, everyone had a Happy Halloween! We are ready for a fairly quiet November here in the shop, after all the events in October. I missed the last two because I took some time off to finish out my spooky season, but thank you to everyone who came out for Sarah Kuhn and Laura Siegel Larson’s signing, and to everyone who celebrated Halloween in the shop with free comics! We also just hit our 33rd year of business! Here’s to another 33 years! Please help us out by picking up your files, so we can get ready for the new carpet installation! The less we have to move, the better! We will be closed Monday, November 13th, and Tuesday, November 14th for the installation, and the back room is being done this coming weekend, so please pardon our dust as things are in transition. Since this is going on, and we’ll be having our Black Friday weekend sale in November, we’ll be skipping a month of Late Nite Comics. And, just announced! This year’s theme...

Trick or Treating at CNJComics 10-28-2023

Hey everyone! Just a quick reminder that we’ll be hosting in-shop trick or treating from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, October 28th! We’ve had a lot of fun decorating the shop this year and it really shows as you look around the place. We’ve got lots of comics and candy to give away, with Marvel producing five books that were made just for the day! We’ve also got a few other trick-or-read books, including the Cooking with Monsters Feastiary, an IDW Dark Spaces Sampler (adults only), and two manga books from Kodansha. You’re welcome to take one of each as well as some candy. (we have a lot.) We’ll set up a DIY photo backdrop outside, as well as our mechanical “Lewis” talking pumpkin ghoul. (apprently he’s trending according to my daughters.) We have also decided to do 50% off all back issues all day except for the wall. (we just reracked it!) This will be the last time for half of back issues until Black Friday weekend. We’ve also decided to put out a box of free...

Mark Waid signing at CNJComics (and other October events)

The legendary MARK WAID is coming to Carol and John’s Comic Book Shop for a FREE open signing on Friday, October 13th! Mark has written just about everything over the years, the Flash, Superman, Daredevil, Captain America, the Fantastic Four. It’s hard to find any character that hasn’t been impacted by his writing. Mark is coming out as part of Superman’s 85th Celebration in Cleveland, which has events popping up all over town this month. Superman’s Cleveland Not only is Mark doing an open signing, he’s also challenging the staff (and another local team of comic book experts) to a trivia contest afterward. From 5pm to 8pm Mark will sign three books for free for all attendees. (people are welcome to get back into the end of the line afterward for three more signatures, but we are cutting the line sharply at 8pm if need be.) Starting around 8pm we’ll move on over into the foyer connected to the shop for the aforementioned trivia. Three teams will answer 48 questions provided by local comic book retailers and writers covering both...
