Okay! Here’s our Free Comic Book Day SURVIVAL GUIDE! Sort of like the last post but with a lot of director’s commentary! (Pics in other post) Here’s the number one thing to remember about Free Comic Book Day and it’s sort of a paradox. The Free Comic are not the most important thing about free comic book day! Sure, like Christmas “It’s the reason for the season” but the day is about coming out and proudly showing your love of all things comics and engaging your comic book community. That’s not to say that we don’t have 20,000 comics to give away, we do. I’ll take care of that. But trust me, if you judge a successful FCBD by getting the exact 12 comics you were shooting for, odds are you’re going to be disappointed. If you’re looking to hang out, dress up, talk comics, see some amazing creators and see just how big this hobby has gotten, this is the event for you. The key to success? Participation. When you do something for FCBD you’re paid back tenfold. Trust me. Quick lowdown… we have:...

Carol and John’s Comic Shop is proud to announce our participation in International Women’s Day! This Friday March 8th from 5pm to 8pm we’ll be celebrating all the women in our lives at the comic book shop! We’ve always prided ourselves on creating a friendly shop for everyone, but we know that sometimes the local comic shop can be a terror for female customers. We hope to break down some walls by having an evening specifically dedicated to creating a comfortable space for women as they enjoy pop culture! This is our goal for IWD 2013! Our little first year event will go a little something like this: On Friday March 8th from 5pm to 8pm we’ll celebrate International Women’s Day! 5PM! We were recently asked to put together some information about what’s going to be ‘COOL” in the world of comics this year for Alternative Press and we thought we’d pass that info on to you, our fearless customers! It made me realize just how interconnected different projects in our hobby are, and how closely we are tied to the media machine. Comic collectors whether casual or hard core have so many opportunities to be apart of what’s actually cool before anyone else does. Here’s 8 things to look out for in 2013!   1. The Age of Ultron – Marvel’s big series for the summer featuring the Avengers, the X-men, the Fantastic Four and more as the Avengers classic robotic villain Ultron takes over the world in a day. A weekly 10 issue mini series starting on 3-6-2013 and brought to you by Brian Michael Bendis and 3 of Marvel’s top artist, Bryan Hitch, Brandon Peterson and Carlos Pacheco. To try and reverse Ultron’s take over some heroes go into the past and try to prevent Ulton from ever existing. (Just like the old, why...
