Raf’s Featured Stocking Stuffers 12.22.21

Good evening, Carol and John’s Comic Shoppers. First, I want to thank everyone who tuned in on Facebook Live, drew and contributed a cover, bought tickets and donated to the Cleveland Food Bank, and just came in and shopped with us last week during our Holiday Art Show. It’s an event we’re all proud to be a part of and is a pleasure for us to bring to you. But while the art show is over, don’t forget our Holiday Sale is still going on (!) through Christmas Eve this year with 50% off back issues and 10% off everything else in the shop. Including this week’s new releases! Let’s see what Comic Retail Santa brought everyone this year. DC Comics A fan-favorite Batman artist, now soon-to-be fan-favorite Batman writer? It worked for Sean Murphy, could it work for Jock? This week’s Batman: One Dark Knight #1, written and drawn by superstar artist Jock, puts the Dark Knight through the ultimate endurance test. There’s a dangerous new villain called E.M.P. that’s being transferred across Gotham City from Arkham to Blackgate,...

Holiday Art Show at CNJComics Dec 15th-19th

Holiday Art Show at CNJComics Dec 15th-19th

It’s only a little over a week away! Our Holiday Art Show to benefit the Greater Cleveland Food Bank begins on Wednesday, December 15th! We’ve been rounding up submissions but there’s still time to do a cover and support the cause. The due date is Sunday, December 12th, so that we have a few days to scan the covers and get the show together. You can pick up a free blank cover at the shop, just ask at the counter. This year’s theme is “What If…?” which has a lot of possible directions it can be taken in. Here are a few of this year’s submissions: Stop by the shop between December 15th and the 19th and check out the covers in the foyer next to the shop. Covers are won through a basket raffle system where one dollar gets you one ticket towards the cover of your choice! Just buy the tickets at the counter, write your name and contact number on them and drop them in the numbered bag that matches the cover you want. It’s that simple!...

Howdy, everyone! It’s our Charity Art Show this week at Carol and John’s Comic Book Shop! We had an awesome turnout this year with 100 covers and we’re excited for you all to see them. The art show starts this Wednesday and will run through Sunday the 19th. You’ll be able to walk through the foyer and see them all on display, and also get the chance to purchase raffle tickets and place them in your favorites this year. Don’t forget to tune into our Facebook Livestream Sunday at 6:00 p.m. where we’ll highlight every cover on display and draw winners. ALL of your ticket purchases will go to the Cleveland Food Bank and this is the perfect way to celebrate the holidays with us this year. We miss seeing everyone during our usual in-person holiday party, but we’ll get there soon enough, so in the meantime enjoy the show. We will post the full gallery online on Saturday also, so if you won’t be able to make it into the shop this week, you’ll be able to call in...

Good Day and Happy New Comic Book Day readers. December is flying by already, the gift-giving season is almost upon us, and I am still woefully unprepared to give gifts this year. And I still have to do my cover art for the charity art show due this Sunday also! And read new comics!? Whew, it’s a tough life working at the comic shop managing all this goodness 😊. Let’s check out what’s new this week. Marvel Comics Would you believe me if I told you this was the first series dedicated to teaming up the original Avengers, Captain America and Iron Man? Well, believe it. In this new five-issue miniseries Steve and Tony are both after a Hydra double agent that they both have connections to, but all is not as it seems (why would it ever be with Hydra?) as there is somebody, or something else pulling the strings. My two favorite Avengers get their own co-starring book this week, right on. John S. has been raving about Daredevil and the rest of us at the shop are...

Black Friday Weekend and Artists Wanted for Art Show

It’s time to make Black Friday great again. Again. Black Friday Details This year we will once again be extending Black Friday throughout the whole weekend, from Friday, November 26th to Sunday, November 28th. For the first time in a long time, we will be having 50% off all back issues in the shop! Over the last three months, we’ve gotten in three large Silver / Bronze collections that everyone has been enjoying. This will be the first time they will be at 50% off! There will be at least 20 long boxes of late Silver and early Bronze Marvels’s and DC’s to go through, and I add more books every day. A lot of the keys may be gone, but it’s time to enjoy the bread and butter books to help fill your collection at a great price. We will also be giving 10% off everything else in the shop! It’s worth noting that because of some foresight on our part, we do have a full inventory of all comic book collecting supplies, including bags and boards. (you know,...

Hey there, CNJ shoppers! Raf here welcoming everybody to a New Comic Book Day. December is here already!? Some of the year’s best comics come out in December usually, and this month is no exception. We’ve got a lot of great anniversary specials, some returning series, and one big epic of a Wonder Woman book all new this week. Let’s get into it. Marvel Comics This week marks the 750th issue of Avengers, and to celebrate is this week’s oversized Avengers #50. There is a whole lot to unpack in this $9.99 issue including: the conclusion to World War She-Hulk, the story of the Iron Inquisitor, a brand-new team of villains coming for our world including Kid [REDACTED] and Young [REDACTED], Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider receives a new multiversal quest, and new members join the team ALL IN THIS ISSUE. This is definitely not one to miss out on; written by Jason Aaron with a host of other artists as well.
