Raf’s Icy Featured New Releases 2.2.2022

Good morning and Happy New Comic Book Day, everyone! It’s the start of a new month and we’ve got a lot of things coming into the shop this week (including lots of ice and snow apparently to Northeast Ohio. :/). But hey, we can’t control that! Luckily, it’s Cleveland, so the weather can turn around quickly, and hopefully we’ll see a 40-degree day soon to break us out of this winter chill. In case we all get iced/snowed in later this week, be sure to stop by and grab some reading material to keep yourself company. We’ve got a few great trade collections into the shop, as well as some new #1’s and new issues for hit series also. Letssss go. Marvel Comics At the end of 2021, Hawkeye was the talk of the shop because the new Disney+ series had just dropped. And now hot off the trailer premiere just a couple of weeks ago, the Moon Knight hype is starting to ramp up and we’ve had a lot of people coming in looking for MK books. It’s been...

The Return of Saga at Carol and John’s 1.26.2022

Hello, Carol and John’s Comic Shoppers! Sorry for the delay in delivering your weekly news but here is what we have for you this week… so, Happy New Comic Book Day. Or more importantly, Happy Saga Day!! After a hiatus of nearly 3 years, Saga is back this week with a new issue. We couldn’t be more excited here at the shop, and it was the first thing we did as soon as we got our Diamond shipment this week. We’ve got plenty of swag here at the shop too to commemorate the moment, including pins, stickers, and temporary tattoos (while they last). And I’ve got my Saga shirt on today, because of course I’ve got to rep Cleveland native Brian K. Vaughan and the best book out now, period. While today’s big book is definitely the return of Saga, we’ve got a few other great books in the shop this week. Let’s see what else you should get. DC Comics John Paul Leon has been one of the most influential artists of the past quarter-century, and we were excited...

Raf’s Snow Day Comics for 1.19.2022

Raf’s Snow Day Comics for 1.19.2022

Good morning and Happy New Comic Book Day, CNJ shoppers! Raf here, and back home and in the shop this week. I just got home over the weekend from a week in Alaska, and while there was an awful lot of white up there, Cleveland went ahead and reminded me that we can get plenty of snow down here in the lower 48 also. On Monday, winter storm Izzy was giving me flashbacks to quarantine being stuck at home all day. I luckily got some exercise when I had to go out and spend a few hours digging my car out of the street, but I didn’t even have to do that in Alaska! Thanks, Mother Nature! But while we’re inside staying warm this week, we’ve got a BIG Marvel week and some other cool new comics to keep us all entertained. Start the fire, pull up a chair, and check out what you should be reading this week. Marvel Comics The next big Wolverine story, this week sees the debut of the X Lives of Wolverine miniseries with issue...

Raf’s Featured Winter Mix for 1.12.2022

Raf’s Featured Winter Mix for 1.12.2022

Hello, Carol and John’s Shoppers! And greetings from Fairbanks, Alaska! Wait, WHAAAAAA? Yup, Rafael here, and I’m into the wild this week and I’m chilling in the last frontier. My girlfriend and I, and some friends, are holding up in an Airbnb and we’re really hoping to see the Northern Lights this week. Have any of you ever been to Alaska? It’s my second time in a year, and it’s pretty neat. It’s an otherworldly vibe, but it’s also still pretty ‘Merican. But all the while, the guys are holding it down back home at the shop and still delivering the goods to everybody this week! All of our pull lists will get another stack to the file this week, but we’ll all have a little more excitement and great comics to enjoy too! This week heroes unite, and others collide, and a shop favorite series of ours comes to a close. It might seem like a lot to take in, but let’s see what’s good. Small Press Ben was a big fan of this series when it was coming...

Raf’s Favorite Comics of the Year (So Far) 1.5.2022

Raf’s Favorite Comics of the Year (So Far) 1.5.2022

Happy New Year, and Happy New Comic Book Day CNJ Shoppers! I hope everyone had a fun and safe New Year’s celebration. It was laid back for me; my parents came into town and we played Cards Against Humanity with my girlfriend, which was fun, but I did not realize how sick and twisted my mom could be. And I always thought my sense of humor came from my dad! As the holidays wind down, and we all get back to our regularly scheduled lives, we’ve got some great comics this week at the shop to help escape some of those back-to-reality blues. We’ve got a few finales, some new happenings in Gotham City, and also a fan favorite Image book back with a new one-shot. Let’s jump into things. Marvel Comics The finale to Jonathan Hickman’s X-Men run, it’s Inferno #4 this week. Hickman has introduced a whole lot of new ideas and concepts to the mutant universe, and now he brings the story he began way back in House and Powers of X to a close. Mystique’s wife...
