Raf’s Featured New Releases 10.13.21

Good morning and Happy New Comic Book Day CNJ shoppers! Raf here, back again to fill everybody in on the week’s featured new releases. It finally happened though! Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples are coming back with SAGA early next year, and Ben and the other guys have been hearing me for a few years now saying that as soon as it was announced I’d drop everything I was doing and reread the story so far. I encourage those who haven’t checked it out, to DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and do so! It’s simply the best of comics. But in the meantime, we’ve got new books this week. Let’s check ‘em out.  Marvel Comics Al Ewing’s masterful and great horror inspired take on the Big Green Giant comes to a close with issue 50. This has been one of the biggest books from Marvel over the past couple years, and arguably the Hulk’s best storyline in decades. To be honest, I’m not caught up myself, but I’m looking forward to an inevitable hardcover collection of the whole series. But if you also want to see where Banner...

Happy New Comic Book Day! Raf here checking in, managing to pull myself away from listening to some Pantera and reading Jason Aaron’s Conan the Barbarian (By Crom, it’s awesome!) to talk about this week’s featured new releases. It’s a big week with some cool new titles and plenty of great variants to choose from. Let’s check things out. Marvel Comics Swinging in quick after last week’s oversized finale to the Nick Spencer run, this week’s issue #75 of Amazing Spider-Man promises to shake up the Spidey status quo. Ben Reilly’s back in town and Marvel’s been teasing some serious medical bills for Peter Parker, but what does it all mean for the future of Spider-Man? It all starts here as the next era of Spider-Man begins! Following up after an awesome first issue last month, finally the next installment in Tom Taylor’s Dark Ages comes out this week. “ It has been years since the age of technology ended in a single moment, like a switch had been flicked to off for an entire planet. Now Earth’s heroes attempt...

Welcome back everybody, and Happy New Comic Book Day! Raf here again to deliver you the news on this week’s big new releases. A big finale from Marvel, at DC fan favorite character gets a surprising new partner, and small press packs the scares, all this week. Let’s dive in!  Marvel Comics Nick Spencer’s Spider-Man run has been epic and thrown Peter through a lot in three years and this week, with an over-sized $10 issue, Amazing Spider-Man #74 closes everything out. A lot has happened, and with multiple story-lines converging, and plenty of revelations and answers still due, this issue promises to be huge and send not only Peter, but maybe even a familiar face (Ben Reilly??) BEYOND.  Also just in time for the new Venom sequel this Friday, the Extreme Carnage miniseries wraps up this week with an Omega one-shot. Simply put, “IT’S ALL COME DOWN TO THIS! CARNAGE WINS!” That can’t be good news…  And for all you X-heads out there like me, this has been the book you’ve been waiting for: Inferno! Jonathan Hickman’s X-Men tenure...

Lots of exciting books out this week, and maybe even some new titles to freshen up your pull lists. Let’s get into it! MARVEL COMICS It’s a biggie this week from the House of Ideas as the Death of Doctor Strange miniseries kicks off with issue #1. Stephen hasn’t had his own book in a while, and this is how you treat him, Marvel!? Just a few months ahead of his big screen sequel no less. We’ll have to read and see what writer Jed Mackay of Black Cat and Moon Knight throws his way, but it sets itself up as the last days of the Sorcerer Supreme. DC COMICS Gotham’s been a strange sort of place (stranger than usual) this past year under the helm of James Tynion IV, and new this week is Batman #113. And going right along with it is also the first big wave of Fear State tie-ins...

Genghis Con Pop Up at CNJ Comics – Saturday 11th

Hey everyone! You haven’t heard from us in awhile but we’ve got a great event coming up this Saturday September 11th at the shop! Genghis Con is a really great independent comic convention that was put on hiatus due to the pandemic, having to cancel both of their yearly events in 2020 and 2021. To get back to where they need to be they’ve been hosting pop up events at different shops in the area and it’s our turn to host one! We’ll have eight visiting creators setting up tables in the shop and selling their stuff, as well as three of the leaders from the con itself. For the first time in our history we’ll break down the new comic table for a day to make extra room, as well as using the foyer and some tables outside. (Don’t worry, we’ll have all the new comic table stuff in one place off to the side for easy browsing.) Genghis Con is really important to alot of local creators, and to help with the fund raising we had local artist...
