DC Rebirth and Civil War II

DC Rebirth and Civil War II

We’ve got a lot of ground to cover this week between DC Rebirth and Civil War II, so let’s jump right in! Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, June 1st 2016. REBIRTH DC Rebirth was a universal hit last week. Just take a look around the internet. (no wait, don’t do that, it’s dangerous.) We sold over 500 copies in a week making it our best selling book of the year. While the book is going to a $5.99 second print, we still have about a hundred first prints at $2.99! We went long and it paid off. This week we’ve got four DC Rebirth Specials coming out. I’ve read them all, and they all have a component that takes you back to the characters legacy. Good stuff across the board. Batman Rebirth #1: Ex CIA agent and cult writer Jeff King (The Vision, Omega Men) takes over with a little help from Scott Snyder as Batman trains a new protege. Green Arrow Rebirth #1: A full issue of Ollie and Black Canary and the return of...

This is the night where we see if DC Comics will sink or swim with it’s new Rebirth #1. This 80 page giant is only $2.99 with a story by Geoff Johns and art by Gary Frank and additional artists. This will be the defining moment for DC’s future and they’re promising a last page with a shock ending. Don’t let this book be spoiled for you on the internet before reading! If you attend the event you will also have the opportunity to buy the midnight release variant, also only $2.99! There will also be 1:100 variants for $50 each. The first 25 people in the door will receive a free Jim Lee DC Rebirth Lithograph. These are actually really limited. To make the day even more important, two other major DC titles are out this week that are also crucial...

Free Comic Book Day at Carol and John’s Comic Book Shop

Free Comic Book Day at Carol and John’s Comic Book Shop

Here’s all the information on this year’s 15th annual Free Comic Book Day. Every year we strive to make the event bigger and better, and this year is no exception. With the release of Captain America Civil War that same weekend, the event will have a decidedly Marvel feel to it. Free Comic Book Day is the first Saturday in May. We break the event up into two separate yet equally exciting events. Because we are allowed to give the books away starting at midnight, we have an early release event beginning at 10pm on Friday, May 6th and lasting until 2am. Books are given out at midnight, but there’s a lot going on before then. The day event begins at 10am on Saturday May 7th, and lasts until 7pm. While the night event has a different feel than the day event, both events are absolutely family friendly. Basic Event Information: The space to line up for free comics is our old store front, which is 100 feet from our current shop. (17448 Lorain to be exact.) This is also where the art gallery, artists and photo op area will...

Black Panther, Harley Quinn, Poe Dameron and the Road to Civil War II

Black Panther, Harley Quinn, Poe Dameron and the Road to Civil War II

This is the week you’ve been waiting for! Huge new comic week with some truly impressive product across the board. Get ready to be excited for the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, April 6th, 2016! In a week with lots to pick from, we’re going to lead with Black Panther #1 by Ta-Nehisi Coates, national correspondent for The Atlantic writing about Culture, Politics and Social Issues. Black Panther’s been a highlight of the Civil War trailers, and Marvel has put together a team to reinvigorate the character in print. Keeping track of Coates’ efforts as a first time comic writer along with his process with artist Brain Stelfreeze has been pretty educational. Here’s a recap in Coates own words. Really worth the read. This Wednesday is also the Star Wars Poe Dameron launch party. (which basically means we’ve got some free stuff to give you with your copy is issue #1.) Poe and his X-Wing Squadron investigate sites of historical importance to the Force by Charles Soule (Death Of Wolverine, Lando) and Phil Noto (Black Widow, Chewbacca). Expect...
