Marvel Domination…. Marvel dominates again this week, with new #1’s, some Secret Wars finales, and Chewbacca! We’ve also got 300 copies of a new Marvel Previews book that we’ll be giving away this week to help you decide which titles to try out this month. We’ll also have parts 4 and 5 of the Iron Man build a figure to give away this week as well. Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, October 14th, 2015. Leading the pack this week is the new Guardians of the Galaxy #1. Bendis is still writing the book and a serious roster change puts Rocket in charge. And welcome new member (and one of my favorite Marvel characters ever) the Thing! The Uncanny Avengers have been assembled again by Steve Rogers, to unite humans, mutants and Inhumans. As we know from last week’s Avengers #0, Deadpool is now a card carrying member of the time! Great creative team of Gerry Duggan and Ryan Stegman. Missed the band wagon the first time? Hop on board with Spider-Gwen #1. By the same creative...

The New Marvel Universe Begins This Week 10-7-2015

The New Marvel Universe Begins This Week 10-7-2015

This week is the relaunch of the new Marvel Universe, with six new titles to choose from setting the structure for this new world. ALL-NEW, ALL-DIFFERENT … MARVEL Sure Secret Wars isn’t over yet, (and won’t be for some time) but Marvel historically loves to conquer the sales charts in the month of October, and this week looks like the biggest of the year. Spearheading the charge is Invincible Iron Man #1 by Brian Michael Bendis and David Marquez! Billed as the flagship title of the new launch, just as the Iron Man movie was in the theaters. Expect new armors, new cast, and new villains, as well as a new direction and purpose for the character. This is the one to grab and their are lots of variants to go with it. These variants will be cover priced and first come first serve on Wednesday at noon! Variants like Cosplay, Action Figure, Putri Party, Skottie Young, Young Guns set and more! Amazing Spider-Man #1 is this week as well, and it seems that Peter Parker is a global businessman...

New Comic Releases For the Week of 9-30-2015

New Comic Releases For the Week of 9-30-2015

SANDMAN After almost two years since the first issue, we’ve finally got the final issue of Sandman Overture #6. This issue will be the lead in to the classic Sandman series by Neil Gaiman and will provide new insight into the first graphic novel volume. DC ANNUALS Since this is the fifth Wednesday of the month, DC likes to fill it with annual specials, which are sometimes self contained, like Batman Annual #4, or a crucial part of an ongoing story line, like New Suicide Squad Annual #1. Other DC Annuals this week include: Batman Arkham Knight Annual #1 Grayson Annual #2 and Green Lantern Annual #4. Also from DC, if you haven’t been reading Justice League, you should back up to issue #41 to read #44 coming out this week. The Great Darkseid War has been a typically fun Geoff Johns big team romp, pitting Darkseid against the Anti Monitor. ARCHIE COMICS Another book that’s been fun and deserving of the hype if Mark Waid and Fiona Staples Archie. Turning Archie comics into more than just for kids, this...

Free Batman Comic and New Releases for 9-23-2015

We’ve got a few cool things going on at the shop this week. Here’s what happening for the week of Wednesday, September 23, 2015. FIGHT CLUB 2 First, for everyone following Fight Club 2 from Dark Horse Comics and Chuck Palahniuk, issue #5 comes out this week and we’ve got special scratch and sniff cards to go with it. The book has been a wild ride, and has shown us what Tyler has been up to covertly for the past ten years, as well as the years before the original movie. While quite a few people will wait for the graphic novel collection of the ten issue mini series, Chuck has done his best to create incentives for people to read along periodically. One of those incentives is this limited bookmark, what has five scratch and sniff scents on it, one for each of the five issues. There’s even a contest where you have to guess the scents to win prizes. Here’s the contact information for that: Remember, bookmarks are limited and only went to select shops in America, so...

New Comic Releases for Sept 9, 2015

Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, September 9th, 2015. STAR WARS After last week’s huge Star Wars toy drop on ForceFriday, everyone’s got the new movie on their minds. This week Marvel’s offering up a new title set directly after Return of the Jedi! Star Wars Shattered Empire will be a four issue mini series written by Greg Rucka detailing the power struggle in the Empire after the emperor’s death, as well as the rebels response to it.  Darth Vader #9 is also due out this week. DC COMICS Scott Snyder will be teaming up with his occasional partner JOCK to bring you a stand alone issue of Batman. Batman #44 is a flashback story telling the origin of new villain Mr. Bloom. (So yes, we get Bruce Wayne back for an issue.) JOCK worked with Snyder on Batman Black Mirror, and currently works with him on Wytches.
