New Releases for 11-8-2017

We’ve got some announcements about upcoming events, as well as some new releases for both DC Metal and Marvel Legacy.

Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, November 8th, 2017.

DC COMICS

Batman Lost one shot throws Batman himself into the Dark Dimension to confront his greatest fears. As this one shot is written in part by Scott Snyder we’ll be putting it in everyone’s file who gets Dark Nights Metal.

Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #32 is a Metal tie in and part of the “Bats Our of Hell” storyline. Expect to get a glimpse of the Batman Who Laughs!

MARVEL COMICS

Some featured Marvel Legacy books this week include:

Moon Knight #188 is written by Max Bemis, who has produced some pretty interesting work like Polarity, Foolkiller and Worst X-Man Ever. Plus Moon Knight is a regional favorite and always does pretty well at the shop.

After all his hard work in Secret Empire, the Kingpin will make his bid for mayor in Daredevil #595 with “Mayor Fisk” part one.

A big part of Spider-Man Deadpool #23 is the addition of new series artist Chris Bachalo, adding his psychedelic undertones to the book.

Mark you calendar for the following dates:

LOCAL COMIC SHOP DAY

Saturday, November 18th will be the third annual Local Comic Shop Day, with some limited items that will only be available in brick and mortar comic shops.

You can see a full list of the items here: http://localcomicshopday.com/ But highlights include limited Batman Hush and Planet Hulk Hardcovers, as well as a new Rick and Morty Treasury Edition and Star Wars Adventure #1 Variant Cover. (For our Star Wars completists out there.)

We’re also getting one of the Saban Power Rangers Blind Box for $99.99. Only 250 were made and we’re wondering what’s in it as well as who’s going to buy it.

(ANTI) BLACK FRIDAY SALE

Friday, November 24th will be our longest running shop tradition, our (anti) Black Friday Sale!

“Don’t like the idea of being mauled to death trying to save some money in the company of complete strangers?

Come join in our longest running shop event, our Black Friday Midnight Madness Sale!!!”

While it’s easily our biggest sale of the year, it has actually become sort of an anti Black Friday Event. We have our event from 7pm to midnight on Friday evening, so that we are not a part of prying you away from your family during the holiday. Our goal is to provide a fun shopping experience and not some epic consumer battle. We also know that quite a few of our customers work retail themselves, and this late night event gives then a place to unwind and do some shopping themselves before heading home. (Mostly for themselves, which is fine by us.) This is a great time to hang out with like minded individuals in pursuit of some deals and a great story or two.

On Friday November 24th from 7pm to midnight we’ll be having our annual Black Friday Sale.

For this sale we open up our back room and the foyer with over 70,000 comic books at $1.00 each. Buy 100 or more and the price drops to .50 cents each! There will be new boxes from collections we have purchased and not got around to processing. This year we will have the books in some semblance of an order to make your shopping easier, so bring your lists!

Also that night:

  • 20% off all Graphic Novels and Hardcovers
  • 50% off all Back Issues
  • 20% off the New Comic Wall
  • 20% off Statues and Action Figures and Pop Fun’s
  • Discount Graphic Novel Bins reduced to 80% off
  • 10% off EVERYTHING else in the shop. (you know, stuff that’s never on sale, like supplies, pub and tiki glasses)

And most importantly…

THE RAFFLES! The corner stone of keeping you in the shop longer than you’d like!

We’ll be raffling off 50 Graphic Novels at a rate of five every half hour starting at 7:30pm. One of these books each half hour will be a $100 Marvel Omnibus, and I’ve picked out some great ones.

You get a raffle ticket for every 10 dollars you spend and the tickets stay in there all night long. YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN! Tickets are non transferable and you can win up to three times.

At midnight we raffle off a $100 gift certificate. You must also be present to win that. Lots of people head out for a few hours and return at midnight for a chance to win. (People shop, then shuttle back and forth between our shop and the Red Lantern every half hour for food and drinks. The new Working Class Brewery is now open, so that adds a new element to the night.)

We’ll also provide snacks and pop during the night, and word is a couple of those drinks may be adult beverages.

SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY

The day after that we’ll be hosting another Small Business Saturday at the shop, on Saturday, November 25th.

We will keep the $1.00 books out on this day as well, incase you’d like a second chance to browse through them in a more mellow environment. We’ll also have:

  • 10% of all Graphic Novels and Hardcovers
  • 50% off Back Issues
  • 10% off Statues and Actions Figures

Remember to try and put some money into local Small Businesses this shopping season, even if it’s not us. Believe me, it goes a long way if you just make one extra purchase locally that day.

There will be more to come, including the yearly customer appreciation party and charity fundraiser for the Cleveland Food Bank on 12-16-2017. (But more on that in the future!)
