New Comic Releases for the week of 12-10-2014
Our Christmas Party / Art Show / Sale / Food Drive is fast approaching, but first…
Here’s the featured new comic releases for the week of Wednesday, December 10th, 2014.
Spider-Verse! The mere mention of it sends chills down my spine.
Amazing Spider-Man #11 comes out this week, and the Amazing Spider-Man goes head to head with the Superior Spider-Man for leadership of the team. Love this storyline.
Also this week is Spider-Verse Team Up #2.
You’ve got Miles Morales teaming up with the Ultimate Spider-Man from the cartoon series, and Spider-Gwen recruiting a Spider-Man who never got over her death.
We’ve got even more Spider-Man this week. With Wolverine dead, Spider-Man steps in as guidance counselor in Spider-Man and the X-Men #1.
While not a Spider-Verse tie in, I’m excited to see Spidey picking up the slack in Wolverine’s absence.
Brian Bendis writes two new annuals this week, Uncanny X-Men Annual #1 and Guardians of The Galaxy Annual #1.
The Guardians Annual even has art by the amazing Frank Cho!
DC’s catching the holiday spirit with the Harley Quinn Holiday Special #1.
With art by a who’s who of creator’s including our personal favorite Darwyn Cooke!
Our Indie pick of the week was easy, Image Comics Bitch Planet #1!
“2014 Best Writer Eisner Award nominee KELLY SUE DeCONNICK (PRETTY DEADLY, Captain Marvel) and VALENTINE DE LANDRO (X-Factor) team up for the very third time to bring you the premiere issue of BITCH PLANET, their highly-anticipated women-in-prison sci-fi exploitation riff. Think Margaret Atwood meets Inglorious Bastards.”
We’ve got many holiday announcements to come but for now be aware that our Christmas Party will be on December 20th from 8pm to 11pm. This will be preceded by an all day power shopping sale with an art show to benefit the Cleveland Food Bank. Stop by the shop anytime from now till then to get a coupon for 33% off any one item at the party. Just ask at the counter.
Winston wants you to know how upset he is about people being hungry during the holidays.
He’s not hungry. Not ever. He’s living in his ivory tower like that fat cat Mr. Wayne. However, unlike that do nothing Wayne, Winston has declared that ALL sales from the $1.00 bins will go to the Cleveland Food Bank until December 24th. The CFB can turn that one dollar into four full meals. We’re also still taking cover submissions for the art show. Full details here!
That’s it for this week. The Christmas countdown begins…
