Halloween at the Comic Shop and New Releases for 10-28-2026

Hey everyone, you’ve got John D writing this week’s email, Andrea’s off on vacation this week enjoying the spooky holiday season.

We’re gonna start by letting you know about this year’s Halloween Event at the comic shop on Saturday October 31st, yes, it’s actually on Halloween this year!

From 10am to 7pm you’ll be able to stop by the comic book shop for free comics and candy!

Many of the books we give away were created just for the day, like the Spidey and Infernal Hulk books from Marvel.

Some are books we thought were so cool so we ordered up on them just to give them away, Like DC vs Vampires or DCeased, DC’s cool zombie title.

Sometimes our younger readers can be picky, even when books are free, so we load the table up with some all ages selections from the past for them to pick from.

We make sure every kid (and adult) leaves the shop happy with their selections.

Plus, you know, lots of candy.

We love to see your costume, though it’s not necessary to get some free books.

We will also have 50% off all back issues to help with your shopping needs on the day.

The day tends to be front loaded, so show up early for the best selection!

It’s a fun day for us, where we put our best foot forward, we’ll be in costume for sure!

Now on to this week’s new releases!

DC definitely understood the assignment this week, and they’ve got some of our best picks!

Both Absolute Batman and Absolute Wonder Woman are celebrating their 25th issues this week, and the only way to summarize them is brutal.

Batman Bad Seeds has been a fun ride, and it wraps up this week with the Batman Bad Seeds Sunrise One Shot.

You really only had to read Batman, Detective, Poison Ivy, and the opening and closing one shots to enjoy the story, a crazy 24 hours in Gotham, but some of the side stories have been great, like Greg Rucka’s Gotham General #1, how the hospital handled the siege.

The staff advised me to order up on the DC All In Darkseid Vs the World One Shot, and they were right. Scott Snyder and crew deliver a good recap of Darkseid’s role in the DCU, and this book will lead into future events.

It’s Halloween, so we’re going to throw Image’s new Universal Monsters Title at you, The Bride of Frankenstein Lives #1. Written by Kelly Thompson, writer of the aforementioned Absolute Wonder Woman.

Other than that it’s a pretty huge new comic week! We will also start handing out free blank cover on Monday Nov 2nd for anyone that wants to submit for our Holiday Art Show to Benefit the Greater Cleveland Food Bank! This year’s theme is “The Villainy of Doctor Doom!” to line us right up with the movie release in December! Stay tuned!
