New Releases at CNJComics for 5-13-2026
Hey everyone! You’re getting John D this week, as Andrea is off on stay-cation!
First up, we’ve finally gotten our photos and event video together for Free Comic Book Day this year. Thanks again to everyone for showing up and keeping the event viable. Here’s a link to Sonny Boy’s Video. Be sure to like and subscribe to Sam and Maddy’s videos, they’re pretty great!
It was nice to see the event through someone else’s eyes this year too. “Welcome to the X-Men Kitty Pryde, hope you survive the experience.”
Also on Instagram @sonnyboycomics!
Our photo set was by Laura Wimbels, and it’s another great way to look at the event. She knocked it out of the park this year and it really feels like a walk through the event.
Here’s a link to the Facebook photo gallery, where we host the images!
You can follow Laura over on Instagram at
Or you can just see her yourself and say hi at the next Midnight Rental at the Grog Shop on May 20th!
This will be the first one I’ll be co-hosting with Laura and Ben. We watch a mystery B movie (more like D movie) and provide running commentary in the vein of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Doors at 7pm, movie at 8pm. I’ve been to a large handful of these events, and they’re really well attended and fun.
The day after that, May 21st, will be this month’s installment of Late Nite Comics! (with our fancy new LED sign!)
Back Issues will be 50% off and all dollar stock will be 50 cents each with no qualifier. (We plan to load the shop up too.) We will also be doing raffles every half hour starting at 8:30 for Marvel Omnibuses! This will be done in the style of our old Black Friday sales, where you get a ticket for every ten dollars you spend and you must be present to win!
Okay, on to this week’s new releases.
Absolute Batman always makes the top of the list, and this week’s issue #20 is no exception. It’s time to introduce you to the Robins, a bunch of kids recruited by Slade Wilson to hunt down Batman.
Absolute Martian Manhunter #11 is also out this week, and you’re either on that train at this point of your not. (You should be on that train.)
Barbara Gordan Breakout looks fun, Batgirl behind bars, no tech, no allies, just her on her own by Mariko Tamaki.
There’s been a ruckus online about mass printing damage to the above three titles. We’re happy to report that our books are fine! DC will be sending out second prints as replacement copies, so if you have a file with us you’ll be getting one of those as well for free. Start a file with us today! Just ask at the counter and we’ll get you started. Five books a month minimum and you are expected to pick up your books at least once a month!
The Amazing Spider-Man Body Count one-shot helps us wrap up Death Spiral with the origin of Torment.
I’m a traveler, so I really appreciate these Godzilla Vs America one-shots. This one is Godzilla vs Texas. (He’s got a lot of walking to do between major cities!)
Ignition Comics has a creepy book this week with Innards by Rob Guillroy (of Chew fame)
After a nuclear event, the most dangerous job on earth is now IN it. “Divers” teleport into the earth to mine for energy, but what other secrets are down there?
Bad Idea has Megalith #1. A giant robot lands in Baltimore and destroys 16 blocks instantly. Now it’s marching towards Washington DC and someone’s got to stop it. Eight years in the making and you’ll know why when you see the artwork by James Harren.
Alright, that’s it. Here’s one of my favorite picks from Laura’s set. Sometimes you just have to suit up and do it yourself. See you this week at the comic book shop!
