Happy Thanksgiving Comic Shop Friends! Let’s start the email off with this banger: We will be closed this Thursday, the 23rd, but rest up because the next day starts our Black Friday Weekend Sale! Yes, all weekend we’ll be running the sale! Starting Friday, the 24th at noon and going through Sunday the 26th you can get all these great discounts: And, the foyer will be filled with boxes and boxes of dollar stock! Buy 100 or more and they become 50 cents each! That’s the best Black Friday deal around! Also, that Sunday is Genghis Con! Hey Comic Shop Friends! Come in and check out our new carpet! Winston is getting re-settled after all the moving and excitement of the last couple days. Thanks for your patience while we were working on all this, and now it’s back to normal! Now on to shop news! First, our annual Holiday Art Show is coming up in December, and we have blank covers out now so you can sign up and pick up a couple. This year’s theme is Marvel Vs DC! Art is due back by 5pm on Sunday, December 10th, and we will display them starting December 13th through our Holiday Party on Saturday the 16th. Once again, we will raffle them off at the party, and all proceeds go to the Cleveland Food Bank. But coming up in November: it’s the big Black Friday Weekend Sale! From Friday, November 24th through Sunday, November 26th all back issues will be 50% off, all action figures and statues will be 20% off, and everything else in the store will be 10% off! Hello Comic Shop Friends! We’ll get into some shop news first, then on to this week’s new books! First, a note from John: “Well, thanks to the Herculean efforts of the staff, the back room was completely emptied, and we got new carpet installed without any interruption to our hours. However, next Monday and Tuesday (November 13th and 14th), we will be closed to do the same with the storefront. We’ve been in this location for over twelve years and it was time to freshen things up a bit. Please do your part to help us out by making plans to come in and pick up your file this weekend! It helps us twofold by lightening the load of things we have to move (already an overwhelming task) and adding some sales to help cover the two days we have to close. Hey there Comic Shop Friends! Hopefully, everyone had a Happy Halloween! We are ready for a fairly quiet November here in the shop, after all the events in October. I missed the last two because I took some time off to finish out my spooky season, but thank you to everyone who came out for Sarah Kuhn and Laura Siegel Larson’s signing, and to everyone who celebrated Halloween in the shop with free comics! We also just hit our 33rd year of business! Here’s to another 33 years! Please help us out by picking up your files, so we can get ready for the new carpet installation! The legendary MARK WAID is coming to Carol and John’s Comic Book Shop for a FREE open signing on Friday, October 13th! Mark has written just about everything over the years, the Flash, Superman, Daredevil, Captain America, the Fantastic Four. It’s hard to find any character that hasn’t been impacted by his writing. Mark is coming out as part of Superman’s 85th Celebration in Cleveland, which has events popping up all over town this month. Superman’s Cleveland Not only is Mark doing an open signing, he’s also challenging the staff (and another local team of comic book experts) to a trivia contest afterward. From 5pm to 8pm Mark will sign three books for free for all attendees. (people are welcome to get back into the end of the line afterward for three more signatures, but we are cutting the line sharply at 8pm if need be.) Starting around 8pm we’ll move on over into the foyer connected to the shop for the aforementioned trivia.
