Artists Wanted at CNJComics

Artists Wanted at CNJComics

Hey everyone, while we can’t have a Christmas Party this year, we won’t let the pandemic stop our yearly efforts to assist the Cleveland Food Bank, which likely needs help now more than ever. Help us to turn your artwork into food for the needy by submitting a cover for our Holiday Art Show!  Each year we round up our community and ask local artists to stop by and pick up a blank comic book cover to turn into a work of art to be displayed during the art show.  Covers are won through a basket raffle system with all money collected going to the Cleveland Food Bank. (Who have the uncanny ability to turn one dollar into four full meals for those in need!) Last year, with your help, we were able to assist them in creating 14,276 meals, bringing our all time total to 77,644 meals!  While in the past the art show has been a one day event ending with a party, we will now stretch the it over the course of five days, from Wednesday December...

New Releases for 11-4-2020 at CNJComics

Hey everyone, first up is a big thank you from us for a really fun month of October. From the CD sale to our 30th Anniversary and then through Halloween, we had a good time the whole way through. Thanks to everyone who came out for any of it to support us.  We’ll keep this week’s email really quick, as we’re still decompressing from the aforementioned month. November is Native American Heritage month, and Marvel put together some really cool variant covers by Veregge, here’s a video on that and about a one shot that’s coming up this month by Native American creators. This week’s new issue of Thor is even sporting one. If you’ve fallen behind on Donny’s Cates’ Thor the first graphic novels comes out this week too, with issues #1-6 inside. Marvel’s got their $1.00 reprints this month with some cool first appearances, including Black Knight and Doc Samson. This is especially important if you’re excited about Kit Harington playing the Black Knight in Eternals. DC’s bringing back their Dark Mutliverse One Shots, so think DC “What...

Halloween at CNJComics 10-31-2020

Here’s the details on what we’ll be doing for Halloween this year at the comic shop! While there is no official “Halloween ComicFest” this year, we have managed to put something together on our own with FREE Comics, FREE Candy and FREE Paper Masks! From 10am to 5pm on Saturday October 31st we’ll be opening up the foyer next to the shop for trick or treating. We’ll be letting one family/trick ot treating group in at a time to walk past three tables, one with candy, one with comics and one with the paper masks. We’ll have a hand sanitizer station outside the foyer, masks are required, and please maintain your six foot social distance from everyone else while waiting. If you’re sick, stay home! All staff members will have their tempertarure checked in the morning, and will regularly sanitize the area (and themselves). After that if you want to enter the shop you can exit the foyer and go in the main doors of the shop, where we will keep the occupancy rating at the regular 15 plus staff....

Okay, we’ve got a lot of ground to cover here so hang on! HAPPY 30TH ANNIVERSARY First and for most, Happy 30th Anniversary Carol and John’s Comic Book Shop! Yup, this Wednesday October 28th will be our 30th year in business, dating back to 1990. We linked to it before but here’s some of the history of our shop from Cleveland Magazine’s Best of Issue this month. We got the lead article! So here’s what we’re going to do for you! Stop in and see us this Wednesday and we’ll give you a FREE Howard the Duck Complete Collection Volume One Graphic Novel with any purchase. Why? Because Howard’s base of operations is historically Cleveland, and we think everyone that lives here should get some background on his history. This is a $34.99 book you’ll get for FREE to thank you for keeping us in business all these years. It’s got a lot of supplemental material, all his earliest stories, Howard running for President in 1976, as well as the KISS appearances. If reading old 70’s pap isn’t your thing...

Featured New Releases for 10-21-2020

Featured New Releases for 10-21-2020

Hi everybody! The big news this week (well, not really big news) is that I finally decided to sell off my CD collection. I have a policy about not turning the shop into my own private garage sale but like Doc Brown says, “what the heck.” I put 1,800 CD’s in the shop at only $2.00 each, with a focus on Punk Rock, Alt bands, soundtracks, compilations, and some bootlegs and imports. Not your typical stuff! (My father in law went through them and said “I have no idea who these bands are.”) Please dig through them and enjoy. The price will drop to $1.00 each on Saturday and Sunday then you’ll never see them again. I had alot of fun doing this with some of my vinyl a few years back and I’m just happy someone gets to enjoy the music. (I may even use the money to by myself a comic book for our 30th Anniversary next week.) Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled programing. Here’s the featured new releases for Wednesday, October 21st, 2020. MARVEL BOOKS Amazing...
