Free Comic Book Day 2017 at CNJComics

Here’s all the information on our 16th Free Comic Book Day at Cleveland’s own Carol and John’s Comic Book Shop! FREE COMIC BOOK DAY With this being the year of Jack Kirby’s 100th birthday as well as the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 in theaters, we’ve decided to to make our FCBD event reflect these two momentous occasions. We’ve got dozens of local artist coming in to do free sketches, a Jack Kirby themed art show, as well as ‘literally’ tons of free comic books and graphic novels to give away. Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) is always the first Saturday in May. We’re savvy enough to break the event up into two equally exciting events, each with its own character. We host a midnight release party from 10pm to 2am on Friday May 5th. Books are given out at midnight, but as you’ll see, there’s a lot going on until then. Just a quick email to let you know what’s going on at the shop as we prepare for Free Comic Book Day 2017. Here’s a link to our website and all the information. FEATURED TITLES First up, Secret Empire #1 hits the stands, and we see just how far Steve Rogers will go to protect his new regime. For all the flack Marvel has been getting about this storyline, it’s really good. (Everyone here knows it’s just a comic right?) Well, not everyone. Be sure to pick up the FCBD Secret Empire Special too, for a pretty big moment! Since the movie is out this week (just saw it, great film) Guardians of the Galaxy starts their new regular ongoing by taking the team back to basics and the original line up. The countdown to Free Comic Book Day has begun and another of our traditions is the yearly FCBD VIP Raffle! FREE COMIC BOOK DAY RAFFLE INFO Visit the shop between Tuesday April 25 and Monday May 1st and you will receive a raffle slip for every regularly priced graphic novel that you buy. There is no limit to the amount of times you can enter, you get a slip with every book you purchase. Winners will be drawn when we close down the shop on Monday May 1st; you do not need to be present to win. We will pull two winners. It’s an AMAZING week at the comic shop, as the big two debut their new storylines on the same day! (we save all caps for when things are really important.) Marvel’s Secret Empire and DC’s ‘The Button” give you two reasons to run to your local comic shop! Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, April 19th, 2017!. MARVEL FEATURED TITLES Earlier this month Marvel revealed it’s plans for the year to a select group of comic book retailers. I was lucky enough to be chosen and even had to sign a non disclosure agreement. I can tell you that as a lifelong Marvel Zombie, every one is going to be very excited about how this year plays out. Featured New Releases for 3-29-2017

It’s a quirky little fifth Wednesday this week with some really off the wall stuff. FEATURED TITLES Here’s the featured new releases for Wednesday, March 29th, 2017. DC does not have regularly shipping books when a fifth Wednesday happens in a month, so they have to fill the week with cool one shots and non-regular series. Somehow it all came together into a really stellar week.  Let’s begin with four one shot specials spotlighting the first team ups between DC and the new Hanna Barbera characters. Each one also has a back up story modernizing a classic Hanna character.  Suicide Squad and The Banana Splits with a side of Snagglepuss. The Splits get mistaken for criminals and locked up in Belle Reve! Green Lantern and Space Ghost with a Ruff and Reddy chaser. Expect the boys to be stripped of their weapons as well as exchanging them with each other! Conventions season is over (for now), and it’s back to business as usual at CNJComics! Here’s what going on in the shop this week! FEATURED TITLES Iron Fist made it’s debut on Netflix last week, with a slow start and a fair ending. (Jim really likes Colleen Wing.) Marvel’s timed a new ongoing to coincide with the release, with the first issue coming out Wednesday, March 22nd. Written by Ed Brisson, THE GAUNTLET STARTS HERE! “K’un Lun is in ruins.
